First and foremost, a big thanks and shout out to Orlando for making this music possible:

Well here is it is, (for those of us who still either don't or can't download) the newly newly discovered Brothers trax from the Mar Y Sol festival in 1972. For an Audience recording, the quality is very good, especially one using the technology of the 70's at a live show. "Statesboro Blues" is inc. and Orlando very thoughtfully included "Ain't Wastin' Time No More"...which is somewhat of a special treat for me because I had not heard it in decades....This represents the most complete collection of this show.....Since there are so few recordings of the 5 man band in circulation, I wanted to get this out asap. I am sending out the original Disc on the vine, so please be careful...

"The Collazo/ Mandry Tapes" form Mar Y Sol.

1) One way out
2) Stormy Monday
3) Statesboro Blues
4) Done Somebody Wrong
5) Ain't Wastin' time

The “.....time no more” off of this set is about the best I’ve ever heard them play it. It’s worth buying the record, just for that.

I bought this in late 1972, the year I think it came out, and yes Ain't Waistin' Time No More is excellent. All 5 guys were apparently playing it for Duane and Dickey's slide playing is wonderful.

Several of the other bands recorded at the festival have good tracks too.

Interesting. I find the "Ain't Wasting Time No More" to be just too sad to listen to. Gregg sounds so haunted.

From what can be gleaned of press articles of the time and personal accounts, the festival was a failure and a mess. Deaths, murder, warrants for the promoter on the run, cancelled acts. Need to play the vinyl as I have neglected to play the non ABB material..... BB King, ELP, Cactus, Dr John, Herbie Mann, J Geils, others. The only artist to get two cuts on the double album was Jonathan Edwards, which seems funny now. Wonder if source analog of entire ABB set is ratholed somewhere.

I feel the same way looking at the B&S gatefold photo -- am curious about the when of that photo -- it's obviously autumn 1972, Linda, Candace & Britany are in it as well as Lamar

wonder if they gathered for this photo after coming from Rose Hill Cemetery and Duane's & Berry's burying

back on topic, this version of Ain't Wastin is very good -- Butch & Jaimoe, audible, magical -- thanks for the link pops42 Grin

You can search for The Collazo/ Mandry Tapes and then download. What a treat to discover these additional tunes after all these years.

Among other problems at this festival was No Hammond B3 for Gregg at the show, or at least most of it. I think they may have gotten it in towards the end of the show(?) So Gregg Plays Piano on songs he normally did not.
