I’m not saying there aren’t plenty of songs just as good. But is there any song better than Peter Green Mac’s “Need Your Love So Bad.”
It’s close to perfect.
Yes it is good. Need Your Love So Bad is on Enlighten Rogues and Gregg's singing is real nice but Peter Green is tops.
Blue Sky by the ABB on Eat A Peach is another perfect song. Never ever gets old. A joy to hear everytime for 48 years.
I used to hear people talk about the original Fleetwood Mac and how good they were. Only knowing the Rumors-era Mac, I'd roll my eyes and be like whatever. Nothing against "Chain" or "Gold Dust Woman" but I figured it was more of that, purist nonsense. Then I heard "Albatross" and dove in, I was a believer. It's almost a crime that the Stevie Nicks band and Peter Green band have the same name. "Need Your Love So Bad" is one of the most achingly beautiful songs, I'm not sure why anyone else attempts it. Gregg's version is pleasant, but one of the few times his version pales in comparison.
I absolutely love Green's playing on that song. There are various versions and takes of the song that have been released from the studio as they were working on it.
