ricky was actually playing guitar since he was a kid. he learned several instruments before he graduated high school. drums though was his forte as he had played drums with shorty. after high school he had a band he tried to front as the drummer and singer. through some name changes and member changes ricky switched to guitar and eventually they became blackfoot. ricky only switched back to drums for skynyrd because skynyrd needed a rhythm section and they had asked blackfoot bassist greg walker to play bass so ricky told them he'd come play drums if they wanted him
@matt05 Yes Rickey Medlocke is a very good guitar player. I saw Blackfoot years ago but wasn't familiar with the names of the guys. They opened for another band I think was The Atlanta Rhythm Section. It's been years ago.
Gibson Explorer. I like those guitars. Allen Collins played one or was it a Gibson Firebird? I think I've seen him play both.
