Looking for help with converting DVD format... ABB 1998 Show

I have a DVD video copy of a 1998 ABB show that was given to me that is in mp4 format. I can watch it on a computer, but not on a DVD player. I am less than a computer genius, and I was wondering if anyone on here would have a way to convert it to the correct format to be able to work in a regular DVD player. I did find an editing software at one point, but it wouldn't read the mp4 format to start with. I am asking on here because I want to give it to my brother and a couple of friends as Christmas gifts.
If someone can help, I can mail a copy of what I have, and you would obviously be able to keep a copy for yourself. I would then also be more than happy to put it up as a vine so anyone who wants to check it out can. It is a really good show... Jack, Dickey, and Oteil are tearing it up.
PM me or reply on here if you can help me out with this. And thanks in advance.

Good question. I have struggled with this before. The bad thing is different dvd,blu ray, smart tv's seem to only read a few different formats from my experience. By all means I AM NOT a computer geek at all. Just stumble my way through trial and error.
We have a smart tv in our bedroom which has a usb port which can read and play movies, but like I said it only does it if they are in a certain format. The TV is a phillips. We also have a bluray player in our bar room in the basement which also will take a usb flash drive and play movies. That is a Sony and its wonderful. Reads just about anything where the Phillips reads only about one format.
This is some free software that might be able to help you convert the video. The thing is you will need to know what type of dvd players they have in order to figure out what format it will read. Like I said I am not a tech wizard , this is just from my experience. I tend to do things the hard way, so I am sure others probably know more than me.
I really like this one and its free!!
