the first four songs on the cd absolutely smoke! That era of the band at the top of their game.

Lamar Williams on bass is real fine and Jaimoe is playing almost like Buddy Rich. Chuck is excellent. Southbound at the Wunterland 1973 is real smoke. All 6 of them locked in and smoking. It's really exciting to hear a band get that tight and letting it really roll. It probably equals anything on Fillmore East except some of Duane's solos such as Duane on Liz Reed is unequaled for power and energy in the entire history of the band.

Chuck's solo on the Winterland "Liz Reed" is right there as is the raw emotion on display in the segue between "Trouble No More" & "Whipping Post" during the encore

73 was a great year,I saw 2 and only 2 shows that year: 6/9&10/73 RFK and 7/28/73 Watkins Glen, The Dead, The Allmans, The Band, etc. Epic shows that really stand out and bring back some wonderful memories.

The 1973 Winterland show was released as part of the Brothers & Sisters boxed set (the first few tracks were previously released on Wipe the Windows): https://www.amazon.com/Brothers-Sisters-CD-Super-Deluxe/dp/B00CHRB9RM
