Well, today is the 30th anniversary of this huge event!! I was only about 3 months old when it happened, but I do have the DVD of it, and there's definitely some great performances. This is definitely a stand out performance:

Wish I could've been there to see one of the shows in person, or watched in on TV when it happened!

Hard to believe no one replied to this post. I had the opportunity to attend this show in Philly, but balked because the tickets were 35 dollars. Silly me. This was my generation's Woodstock. I saw plenty of shows at JFK, but for some reason I thought this was an unreasonable price.

We did watch the broadcast on MTV as it was my Father's birthday. Still holds a special place in my heart for those 2 reasons.

As far as the UK was concerned, I remember everyone being very excited by the show and the list of "stars" taking part, the all-day TV coverage which was a novelty in those days, and also the prospect of raising a lot of money for Ethiopia.

For me, looking at the line-up now, it just reminds me of how bland the 1980s music scene was and how disconnected I was with contemporary music. I can't remember going to any gigs but, if I did, it was probably someone like Jackson Browne.

Queen were very good, I don't even remember The Who, but the rest of it was a load of crap, to be honest.
