Little Richard, Gone - Will Never Be Forgotten!

On one of these chats, I once said that "Lucille" was the greatest Southern Rock songs ever written. Southern rock! What other kind was there in the day? Ladies and gentlemen, the architect of Rock and Roll has left the building. Sad, sad day here on earth - jubilation in the heavens! Long live Little Richard!

One of the greats for sure!!!

A great has left us - just looking at my album of his - a 1980 “16 track audiophile recording” - all the liner notes are the hi tech jargon of the time & the tech heads who made it sound so much better etc - seem to recall it wasn’t terribly xpnsv
You Can hear the difference - they’re all on there (1-LP comp), also The Girl Can’t Help It, Send Me Some Lovin etc - would love to have gone to one of his foot-stomper gospel revival shows when he was in that period
RIP, the wonderful Little Richard

very sad news in an already terrible year

"I am The Originator, The Emancipator."
Who could argue with you, Richard?

One of my long time, all-time favorites. Glad I got to see him perform live a couple of times when he was still able to give it his all.
R.I.P. to a R&B and Rock and Roll legend.

Probably my favorite live version of Lucille. You can almost feel the cocaine! 😉

What a Voice!!! Influenced so many!!!! RIP Little Richard!!!!!

Not just the voice - his PRESENCE! His daring to be so outrageous gave the green light to everybody from Cassius Clay (soon to be Muhammad Ali) to David Bowie, Prince and any other performer who dared to push convention aside. My personal King of Rock and Roll. I think he epitomized the spirit of the genre.

Last week , they played an old Steve Martin interview on Fresh Air. When he was talking about his decision to wear suits and not have long hair while doing stand-up comedy in the 1970s, he said he remembered loving Little Richard when he was younger. He then said he would listen to Little Richard albums for hours while staring at the album covers. He said something like, "Inevitably, I would get fixated on wondering what Little Richard's mother thought of his appearance." It was pretty funny.
Little Richard definitely broke the mold, and don't forget he gave a young Jimi Hendrix one of his first real jobs in showbiz.

Little Richard taught Paul McCartney how to sing "Long Tall Sally" when they toured together back in the good ol' days.
