Hi guys Angelo Santelli here, some of you know of me from the many years I've been posting here, others from my work with Michael Allman, Berry Duane Oakley and Bobby Whitlock among others. I just released a new acoustic EP called "The Slide Guitar That Destroyed The World" which features my cover of Little Martha. I learned this song when I was 12 and have played it frequently ever since. There are some moving shots of Rose Hill that I filmed back in February in the video linked below. Hope you enjoy it.

It's also available through all major digital distributors, such as iTunes: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-slide-guitar-that-destroyed-the-world-ep/id1233520137?mt=1&app=music

Now that was nice. Like the harmonics on the 12 string.

Angelo what kind of guitar was that? I noticed the double Gibson Dove pick guards.

Its some sort of Japanese clone of something. Did Gibson ever make a 12-string Dove? I've never seen one but thats what it appears to be. The brand isn't on the headstock but it says Emperado or something on the inside. I happened to find one on Ebay about 3 or 4 months after using the same one in a Nashville studio last year. Loved the sound of both, they're amazing.

That's refreshing to know Angelo. I have a 12 string Sterling that I'm similarily fond of. I think it sounds good and it stays in tune. You must have callouses on callouses on your picking hand. I tried to pick mine without a thumb pick and it likened to crippled me. I really like the sound of a 12 string. You ought to experiment with it more. I didn't know you could tune it to an open chord. Great job!

Thank you. That's an absolutely beautiful version, I've learned most of it in a squareneck Dobro style with slide from his version but I always felt most strong playing Little Martha fingerstyle like Duane & Dickey, and later, Leo Kottke, despite how much I play slide guitar.

Oh man if you didn't know a 12-string could be tuned to a chord, have a listen to Leo Kottke "6-and-12 string Guitar" aka "The Armadillo Album". Spotify it or look it up on Apple Music, or bang on the door of your local used record shop, its the pinnacle of solo instrumental folk guitar music. Kottke later covered Little Martha on 6 string guitar which is where I borrowed the harmony-on-one-guitar melody as I do in the 2nd and 3rd verses. The improvised middle part comes from things my dad would throw in during his own flatpicked version I heard as a young boy that inspired me to start playing guitar.

I just uploaded a video for the title track of this EP "The Slide Guitar That Destroys the World". Both it and Little Martha from my EP are in open C#, really just open-D a half-step down, not some special tuning. This track is heavily influenced by "Vaseline Machine Gun" on Leo Kottke's Armadillo album. If I wanted to make a full length album of this kind of thing, I would have covered that without a doubt.

Also in regards to tunings, the four tracks on the EP are in C#(x2), B (the Baritone in open-B "Ten Mile") and "Hand Clappin' Dobro #2" in E, all harmonically related Smile
