Leon was my musical hero since 1969 when i discovered him-pure luck.

A friend of mine wanted some of my albums & in return gave me Leon's album-i never heard of Leon...what a trade!

In '73 i saw him on the Leon Live tour-i was mesmerized & deeply moved. Then briefly met him by his bus and then again a brief encounter in the early 2000's.What a thrill.

Through the years catching Leon in clubs and theaters was pure joy. He's missed.

Great stuff. Saw Leon just a short time after this show with Freddie King opening. That was just a few months after seeing him with Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

First time I saw Leon was at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino. Don Preston on guitar - first time I ever saw a Gibson Explorer (or might have been a Moderne). Incredible tone, incredible band. Opening act - Elton John trio! I know it's a common cliche for one generation to consider their music superior to what followed, but…man, it's hard not to.

Saw him less than a year before his passing, opening for The Tedeschi Trucks Band. We lost Joe cocker not too much prior and both bands that night played some Joe Cocker and both bands played together for a few as well. Great night. Leon was amazing.

Saw Leon Live 73 also Do2...... I remember being surprised when he jumped on top of his piano and solo'd on a black Les Paul. Shelter People is a favorite Leon for sure, although it may not hold up to todays music and probably has filler Smile
