A delicate subject.

Attendees included Derek & Susan and the entire TTB organization, Warren, Kirk West, Bert Holman, Gregg & Butch's widows, Jaimoe's daughter (I guess Jaimoe wasn't there?) - virtually everyone associated w the ABB, George Porter, Jr, Jimmy Herring, Victor Wooten and the Wooten brothers and the Flecktones.

Derek & Susan did some kind of duet. The TTB did a soft version of Bound For Glory.

OB and Derek spoke.

Nobody or virtually nobody w the Dead.

I hope that is the last funeral for a while.....

A huge loss for the entire jam band community. You can find great keyboard players. You cannot find musicians as uniquely talented as Kofi Burbridge.

He was a big talent. May he rest in peace. And the guy on Beverly Hills 90120 passed of a stroke at age 52. We just never know.

The ABB mourning song has always seemed to have been "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." I wonder if that was part of the ceremony.

From Oteil:

We had a wonderful celebration of Kofi’s life in Charlotte on Monday, March 4. It was amazing to look out from the podium and see so many people that loved Kofi through all the different eras of his life. Friends going all the way back to when Kofi was a small child shared beautiful memories and I learned things about him that I didn’t even know before. Thank you to everyone who flew long distances and made the effort through seriously challenging weather to be there to celebrate Kofi with our family. Though it may feel like he died early, he had three lifetimes worth of adventures before he left here and he surpassed even his own wildest dreams.

It is my desire to have a benefit concert in Kofi’s honor where all those who were not able to be a part of the private service can come and celebrate Kofi’s life with us. I hope to have Kofi’s urn present so that everyone who would like to can pay their respects.

God bless and keep you,
Kofi’s Little Brother
