Not ABB or music related, but shocked to learn of his death.

Helicopter crash north of Los Angeles.

Makes me think of SRV too.

Never been in a copter and I never will, not small aircraft either. Unless it's a full size jet, I'm never going up in the air.

Yes me too. Full-size jet operated by Delta or United.

Apparently they got into some fog. Kobe's 13 year old daughter was killed too and 3 others including the pilot.

Such sad news. And to pass with his Daughter. Horrible.

My wife is a gigantic basketball fan and a basketball Mom through and through. Has done a ton of stuff for kids and helping organize and raise funds for kids that can't afford it.

Kobe is her favorite player. She wears her Lakers - Kobe 24 Hoodie everywhere. So one year I thought it would be cool to get her something signed. I have a friend with the Raptors with tons of NBA connections. He told Kobe about my wife and asked if he could sign something for her.

When Kobe heard about some of the things that she has done, he told my buddy - No Problem but one condition.

He wanted to call her and thank her personally and let her know that he had something for her. Signed Jersey and Bobblehead guy. My wife was sure that I was pulling her leg and had a friend call. Special moment for her. Only took a minute of his time I guess but way beyond anything I expected. She couldn't believe it but knows that I pull things off occasionally. I was so happy for her. She deserves it and nice to see a Legend acknowledge that too.

I thought she would get an 8X11 Glossy Autopen thing. LOL

When I told her about the crash, I knew that her day would be pretty sad. She never misses a Raptors or a Lakers game. She will PVR them if need be and stay away from the scores until she catches up the next day.

Kobe was a Legend while still playing. And a class guy from what we experienced. Very sad day.

How dare he? How will Donald Trump* top this? How long will it take him to get back into the headlines?

Who knows if they’ll figure out why it happened - not much to go on
Wondering if the fog threw the pilot - IIRC that’s how they thought JFK Jr’s plane went down - you can lose track of the horizon

Unspeakably sad - a great college baseball coach & his family were on board too
What his widow & daughters must be going through....husband, father, sibling...
RIP Kobe Bryant

Seriously multiple people are killed including a young child and you bring politics into it.

What a dick!

I pretty much gave up following basketball in the Jordan era, but did like to watch the odd game. Kobe was a spectacular all-around player.

Regarding Trump, I expect a Tweet here shortly claiming he trained the superstar personally.

I recently completed Alan and Andy's excellent book on SRV . In the book after the fatal helicopter crash that took Stevie , Warren commented on the impact that SRV had on himself but he also added that The Brother's had a policy of no band travel by helicopter .

Yeah I think Gregg said he hadn't gotten in a helicopter since getting spooked at Watkins Glen.

And yeah, this is a really tragic and sad story....let's not poison that by bringing up our douchebag President. In any capacity.
