KEITH EMERSON DIES

RIP KEITH EMERSON- It is with profound sadness I have to report the death of Keith Emerson last night in Santa Monica, CA. Below is the official statement from Carl Palmer:
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and brother-in-music, Keith Emerson. Keith was a gentle soul whose love for music and passion for his performance as a keyboard player will remain unmatched for many years to come. He was a pioneer and an innovator whose musical genius touched all of us in the worlds of rock, classical and jazz. I will always remember his warm smile, good sense of humor, compelling showmanship, and dedication to his musical craft. I am very lucky to have known him and to have made the music we did, together. Rest in peace, Keith.

Was never an ELP fan but thought The Nice were really good at the time.
Ars longa, vita brevis seems appropriate.

Man, the Grim Reaper sure is on an extraorinarily grim roll regarding 2016 and musicians.

The Nice was the very first band I saw live in concert ... back in 1968 at the Melody Rooms in Norwich (UK) ... I was blown away by the sounds Keith Emerson got out of that organ ... especially when he drove daggers into it and then set it on fire ... heady days ... RIP Keith ...

Sad news. Reports are coming out it was suicide.

what a sad blow. a monster on keyboards

yea i just heard self inflicted gunshot wound......Sad

I was a big ELP fan back in the day. Emerson was one of the great rock musicians of our time.

I want a big fan, however I always had a ton of respect for ELP.....

I hope he is at peace.
Go see whatever classic rockers you can - we are clearly reaching a point where just the realities of aging are catching up with so many from this great era of musicians.

Always admired and dug elp ! 2016 hasn't been to kind to the classic rock era! Tarkus is one of my all time favorite albums!

ELP was one of my first musical love affairs...From "Pictures at an Exhibition" to "Brain salad surgery"...
R.I.P. my friend, you are already missed.

Never a big ELP fan, but did see the Someone Get Me A Ladder tour and was thoroughly amazed when Keith dropped from the rafters spinning in circles while playing.
Been a tough year for us fans of the music we grew up with... 🙁

It's only TMZ, but Looks like a suicide. Apparently he was very depressed due to an affliction which limited use of his fingers and of course playing keyboards.
