Jorma sittin in with Derek and Susan

Cool. He was a little outshined, but cool to see him up there with them. I'll be seeing Jorma tonight. Had been wanting to catch Hot Tuna at some point, just never worked out.

Susan rips it up on I Pity the Fool

I was really fortunate to have second row pit for this show. I was on Derek's side on the aisle in middle section of the orchestra so I had great sight lines for Jorma. His set was a superb opener. Just him and his guitar. At this point Jorma is kind of professorial. He tells stories about guys like Lightning Hopkins who, not only did he see, but he also took lessons from. His set was intimate. He introduced almost every song with a personal story.
He played his standards, "Hesitation Blues", "Good Shepherd"... no "Embryonic Voyage" which I always enjoy, but that was fine. He ended the set with an extended "Death Don't Have No Mercy" dedicated to so many of his friends that have recently crossed over.
My friend observed that he seemed a little out of his comfort zone with Derek and Susan. Perhaps the song selection could have been different but I really enjoyed it. I've got a great photo of Jorma and Derek in profile. I'll post it in a minute or two.

Though you might enjoy what Jorma had to say about it.

Thank you tbomike! That's great insight. Sounds like Jorma had as good a time as me! Although his hotel was far nicer I think I ate better.

It is funny, but cool to see such accomplished artists take selfies with each other. They are regular people like us though, just alot more talented!

Awesome! Wonder who's idea it was for the picture.

Mauch Chunk Opera House tonight in Jim Thorpe Pa.
Craig Thatcher opened and did a great version of "Come and Go Blues" with some tasty slide work.
Jorma did a long set with Good Shepherd and Water Song. Enjoyable night of music.
