I just thought i'd leave this here....

There's a house in Joplin, MO called The Coda Concert House where this guy puts on living room concerts to 75 people or less. John Hammond himself will be there in April!

http://www.codaconcerthouse.com

I discovered this while looking at John's schedule and nearly fell out of my chair. Couldn't pass this up. I will definitely be there.

This should be a good show for both you and John. He seems to enjoy intimate settings. John played the Double Door in Charlotte where they have a habit of ringing a bell when a patron leaves a generous tip. This caused John to stop mid song and say, "Can you stop ringing that goddam bell." You could've heard a pin drop. After a minute, he resumed not missing a beat.

HAHA. And I bet they stopped ringing it! I saw John about 5 years ago at Knuckleheads in Kansas City and it was a double bill with David Lindley. John played first and for only an hour. At the end of his set he said he would be over at the table to meet and greet and to, in that cool John Hammond Voice, "Make it QUICK" We did.

That was one of the most mesmerizing hours of music I ever heard in my life.

The House Concert thing has become almost it's own unique touring route. Usually solo acoustic mostly unknowns going from town to town. But if someone takes the initiative to ask, you never know who might be willing to show up and play.

For example.....Jack Pearson drove down from Nashville to Bham and did 2 sets in my living room about 2.5 years ago. There was at least one other HTW person there.

And Randall Bramblett did the same a few months before then.

Seeing John Hammond in such a setting would be too cool.

Sounds like a terrific time! Grin
I got to see Dickey, Danny, Frankie, and Ace with a couple other players in a conference room with about 30-40 people in the 90's.
It wasn't a "living room concert" per say, but sitting cross legged on the floor in front of a 6" stage sure made it feel like one! 😛
