John Doe from X, The Flesh Eaters, & The Knitters among other projects came into the city on Presidents Day with his own bundle of music. His songwriting skills range from punk to folk. He's got just about as many film appearances as album credits. He talked of his recent involvement with a book and a follow up that's to be out soon. If idle hands are the Devil's tools then we know this Gent works with Angels. He had Smokey Hormel join him for half of his set on lead guitar. Jeff Slate opened up and had Mark Bosch on lead guitar for his set. Another good night exploring some avenues of sound in the universe of music.

Nice.
I've seen X half a dozen times between the 1980's and 2017. Always a great show. I've also seen The Knitters and John Doe & Exene once each.
I dig just about everything John Doe has been involved in musically.
Going to see The Flesheaters (all the original members in the lineup) in a few weeks. Looking forward to it very much!

Always loved X. They are so talented and got lumped in with punk, but were so much more. I've seen them and John Doe and always fun in concert. I read his book, but was slightly disappointed in that he only wrote part of it, and had other seminal people in the LA scene write chapters--some were good, some not so good. If the Flesheaters were coming close, I'd go. Oh, and X is touring with Violent Femmes in a few! That should be a fun line-up!!

Thanks for the heads-up. That's a great double bill!

I hope they add some east coast dates.

Going to see The Flesh Eaters in March. I'm excited for that show.
