Ipowrie. My favorite guitar players were once members of the Allman Brothers Band. But that link I posted just above on 6/8/20 of Gary Moore playing Parisian Walkways live in Dublin, Ireland in 2005 on the late Phil Lynott's birthday is THE BEST DISPLAY OF HIGH LEVEL ELECTRIC GUITAR PLAYING I've even seen in my life. It takes the rag off the bush for me. To me it tops all players and performances. From the opening notes to Happy Birthday To You at the end, it is technically astonishing. Listen and see if you detect one clam or mistake through all those parts. At times the intensity and speed is just stunning.

If I could play like Eddie Van Halen or Derek Trucks or Joe Bonamassa, I would still hate to have to follow the above link on stage that night.

I admire Joe Bonamassa and his management team's hustle. They have worked wonders getting his name out there. I think they over saturate the market with product though. He's a good player, but there aren't many songs that he has written that I find memorable and that might be because he's putting new material out almost every year and likely getting worn thin on creativity.

I actually liked him better in the context of Black Country Communion than I do as the blues shredder.

There is a smugness about him that rubs me the wrong way as well. That could just be me as he comes across well enough in interviews.

As far as Gary Moore, I like a lot of his Thin Lizzy stuff and early 90's blues stuff, but didn't care for his mid-late 80's metal shredding phase.

That video was enjoyable and then a Rory Gallagher one came on which was nice.

WarEagleRK. One of Joe's fans created the Joe Bonamassa vs Gary Moore compairson video because he wanted people who always want to compare Joe to Gary Moore. Well Joe Bonamassa caused that because in interviews Joe mentions one of his heros is Gary Moore. One of Joe's Les Pauls is named "Gary Moore".

But it likely backfired. The compairson video to me clearly shows Gary Moore can (could) smoke a hot solo better than Joe. And Eddie Van Halen too!
