Jimmy Page says that he is working on "multiple" projects.

Although the LED ZEPPELIN guitarist reportedly turned down an offer to contribute a guest solo to Ozzy Osbourne's new album, he has since revealed that he hasn't been sitting idle.

"There's various things I'm working towards," Page told Classic Rock magazine in a new interview. "It's not just one thing, it's multiple things, and I don't want to even give a hint, because if you do … you give a one-sentence sound bite, and then if it doesn't materialize, it's like: 'Why didn't you do a solo album?' So I don't want to say what it is that I've got planned, because I don't want to give people the chance to misinterpret it."

He later added cryptically: "I really can't put on record what the new record is. I'll leave it to your imagination. The thing is there are so many ways I could present myself right now. Actually, not right now. I'll rephrase that: within a space of time."

Page also suggested that pandemic-related restrictions played a part in his decision to opt out of collaborating with Osbourne.

"I will never be one of those people who'll record alone and send someone a file," Page said. "I never went into music in the first place to do that — it was for playing together."

The full interview with Page is available to read in the 300th issue of Classic Rock magazine.

Page previously made similar comments about his future plans in a recent interview with Uncut magazine.

"I have got ideas and projects in mind — several possible things I could do — but I won't discuss them, because if you give one sentence of something that might turn into a lengthy project then people start asking when it's coming out," he said. "I keep my cards close to my chest with what I am doing, because I don't want to let the fans down."

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, who played on Osbourne's upcoming album, recently said the LP was initially supposed to feature "the holy trinity" of guitarists, but that Page decided against taking part in the project because he doesn't "play too much anymore," according to Smith.

In 2020, Page said he "reconnected with guitar" and he confirmed that he was staying busy during the pandemic, saying: "I'm never not doing something, and I'm never not doing something that's going to surprise people. But I've always got ideas, and the day that I wake up and haven't got any ideas of what to do and how to do it, that for me will be a very sad day. And that day looks like it's some way off yet."

In October 2018, LED ZEPPELIN released its first and only official illustrated book, "Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin". It was a unique collaboration between Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones, who gave Reel Art Press unrestricted access to the LED ZEPPELIN archive.

ZEPPELIN last performed in December 2007 in London, with drummer Jason Bonham filling in for his late father John Bonham.

I won't hold my breathe, he's been spouting the same garbage since 2008. he's 78 now, he may live to be 100, but you don't know whats around the corner.

Ditto Peach, Jimmy has supposedly been working on a new music for close to 30 years now so I will believe it when he finally releases something....anything

As much as a fan(maybe at one time "fanboy" level) of Jimmy that I am , I also have given up hope. He is one of the main reason why I picked up the guitar 35 plus years ago. So its kinda discouraging to see him be stagnant for so long.

This article seems vague about what he is working on . It could mean multiple things besides new music. Kinda par for the course on what he has been doing the last few decades. I just wonder what type of shape he is in as far as playing. I know some folks on this site over the years have mentioned his playing has declined. I am kinda in the middle of the road on that. Have we heard enough to judge that...... not sure. But I know I was not really impressed with the Celebration Day live concert they did in 2007. I had several thoughts about that show that I expressed in the past on here. It had nothing to do with Robert,JPJ or Jason. I have barely revisited it since it was first released.

Jimmy at one time and probably still could work with whoever he chose. I mean, who wouldn't? So I don think there is or would be a lack of available people.

I would be totally surprised if he does anything resembling a band, tour and new material.

Now its been 24yrs since Walking Into Clarksdale. Crazy its been that long!

@jszfunk This seems to be Jimmy's version of "I'm working on a new project called "All compositions by"

Yeah. It took a long time for Gregg to get that project out the door. I always expected he would rearrange a few of his old songs ( Gregg claimed he never enjoyed how the ABB arranged some of his songs) to get an albums worth of "all compositions by" out the door and into our hands.

I felt like listening to it this morning but I've looked high and low and can't find my copy:)

First time I saw Jimmy Page was in the early 1970's with Led Zeppelin. Page played a bright and gorgeous sunburst Les Paul I think he had a Telecaster on one song but not entirely sure. He played with a violin bow about 3/4 into the show.

They were hot and rocking but so loud if I had to endure that several times a month I would damage my hearing. My ears rang for days.

It is very difficult for very talented musicians after they are up in age to put something out that measures up to what they think fans and the critics would like because they are always compared to their glory days.

The Page years long "new music" promise strikes me the same way Gregg's repeated pledge all original "Songs By" release was forthcoming. Complete fantasy. Interesting interview fodder and nothing else.

@oldcoot Yes Gregg talked that all titles by Gregg Allman album up for years. I imagine he hoped he could eventually do it.

Anyway I've only seen Jeff Beck once and he playing was wild and so unusual but interesting and loud.

He is an incredibly unique and interesting guitar player. This is brilliant I guess! Jimmy Page in the audience!!

I see Robert Plant in the audience at this show too. Both Page and Plant there!

NOBODY CAN DO WHAT JEFF BECK CAN DO ON AN ELECTRIC GUITAR!!! Or not willing:)

Good solo from the young lady on bass a few minutes in! She looks so young! Wonder where Jeff Beck found her?

Jeff Beck is worth $18 million dollars and collects hot rod cars. Rolling Stone Magazine pegged Beck as the number FIVE best guitarist on the planet. Lots more here. Oh his first influence was Les Paul and Mary Ford when he heard How High Is The Moon on the radio. Jeff is as good as Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen etc but completely different in his approach.

Robertdee, that young lady on bass is Tal Wilkenfeld. I had never heard of her before an ABB Beacon show, when she came out to play Elizabeth Reed. She took a monster solo and wowed the crowd!!!

But this is a Jimmy Page thread. I sure do hope that at the very least, if Page does nothing new, we DO get some sort of deeeeeluxe packages of the Page/Coverdale album and the Walking into Clarksdale album too. Both albums have their ups and downs, but the good parts are very good, so I'd love to hear any related music.

@jimsheridan Yes Jim I looked up top and it is a Jimmy Page thread. I posted a Jeff Beck piece because I saw Page in the audience. Then later my 75 year old brain began thinking it was Beck. My fault.

Thanks for the info on Tal. I wasn't aware of that. Yes she seems solid and technically savvy. Surprising to me actually.

Page and Cloverdale album indeed has some nice stuff on it!

@robertdee

I saw Tal play with Jeff Beck at the Boston HOB when she was a member of his touring band and she is an amazing talent. As you noted in the video you posted, Beck even gave her a solo spot during the concert. She is not your average just play in the pocket bass player.

Thats disheartening. Jimmy is one of the few that  I worship at the guitar  alter of. Hate hearing it, but I have given up hope lately of anything "new".
