Jimmy Herring with TTB Blue Sky from Beacon

last night. He sat in on a 20+ minute Liz Reed as well. Tonight will be a blast.

Nice! New Yorkers got a treat.

It was a heartfelt tribute to the amazing Dickey Betts that the audience went wild over! So great !!

Derek and Jimmy are big Dickey fans. Jimmy said about 18 years ago that Dickey's solo on One Way Out from Eat A Peach was one of his all time favorites. Said the tone and energy to that day was so inspiring to him.
After the solo Gregg Allman must have dug it too as he says "Yeah"!!!!

Mr Herring knows not a bad note.

Very nice. Thanks for posting.

Agree with above. That was fantastic. Mattison's acoustic guitar and Kofi playing piano added to the feel of the original arrangement.
I would love to hear a pro-shot sound or soundboard to hear a little bit clearer Jimmy's rhythm playing. It looked like in some spots Jimmy was playing the single note lines harmonizing with Derek, but doing so in the shapes of the chords so that he was basically playing two guitar parts at the same time.

Here is another version though I didn't check it out yet.
And the Liz.

Could hear Jimmy much better in this version, but in exchange for losing a bit of Mattison's acoustic guitar and Kofi's piano. Jimmy's rhythm playing is so under-appreciated. I loved what he did with his short stint in the ABB with his rhythm playing on AWTNM and Stand Back, in particular. Whipping Post too.
He's coming from a different place as far as song structure and melody/harmony, with more of a bigger picture. I love to see him talking about this stuff when he does lessons/clinics:

Fantastic!! I love when these 2 get together on stage. It's always a treat!

Great stuff!
