Pretty good, yeah. I could not say it's the best version I've ever heard as someone did in one thread. That award for me would go to Oakland, CA 2009 with New Orleans Jazz Festival 2007 a close second.

Thanks so much for posting. Really nice job filming. I was up on the rail in section 226 and bouncing all over the place. I have the 2007 NO Jazzfest CD and that has been my favorite but this version may be better. I can’t make the judgement until I hear a professionally produced CD. What an incredible evening.

Just an FYI, I did not film this. All I did was grab it off of youtube.

The 310 MSG Jessica is real good. So in 2007 NO Jazz. But to me, the best versions were in 1973 on the long tour the band did for Brothers and Sisters. I saw several shows and Jessica was outstanding. They were really blowing hard on all the Brothers and Sisters songs. Plus it was new. I had not heard Jessica until the 73 tour and the beauty and brilliance of the composition was incredible. And it was new which has an impact on you. Lamar Williams on bass was real fine and of course Chuck on piano and Dickey's solo was always so nice. I wonderful piece of songwriting. My hat is off to the man in the hat.

For a no Chuck version, the one on 2nd Set recorded in Raleigh is real good. Warren plays were Chuck would play before and Allen Woody on bass is solid. That Jessica, oddly because it is so different from Brothers and Sisters with no piano, won a Grammy for best rock instrumental in 1995 for the band.

Who was the best composer in the band? Gregg?, Dickey?, Warren?

Gregg wrote several rock masterpieces. Dreams, Whipping Post, Midnight Rider, Melissa. But when you think about the beauty of the melody line in Jessica or Liz Reed or Revival or Blue Sky....I say Dickey Betts!

Anyone disagree?

Blackey - nope both great composers.
I posted yesterday Jessica IMHO a monster version of that tune.
Admit I had a serious buzz going but listened again to you tube and the PPV version sound seemed better.
I'll stand by what I posted I though the Jessica version 3/10 was finest I've heard to each his own.
