Been playing more Dead lately and 69-72 is my favorite...……. I like to remember Jerry in those crazy days. He would be old now if lived, but he lived it out early...………. Transcendental moment (72) of the balcony at the Academy of Music literally shaking to everyone dancin' and Jerry in all his young glory. I remember looking around and seeing this "Sea Of Smiles"...………. maybe the most communal joy I have ever witnessed in one moment. Was during Know You Rider...…………… the Angels security were happy and having fun...……

I remember who I was at lunch with that day when we found out about Garcia's death. Time flies.

I was on my way to lunch when I heard about Jerry's passing on the radio.

Of course, I suggested to my boss that the department take the rest of the afternoon off to honor Jerry. His reply was (he was a musician too) if the staff could name 4 Jerry songs, we were out of there... we left at the usual time... the department wasn't into Jerry or the Dead... or much of anything as I recall 😛
