I worked on this late last night and today.....a short montage video capturing the sights and spririt of this past weekend's MerleFest 2016, which I thought was wonderful. From new young hotshot guitarist Billy Strings to the legendary Tommy Emmanuel to Jason Isbell's slide guitar to the David Rawlings Machine putting on a fantastic show to the all-star Hillside Album Hour Jam paying tribute to Glenn Frey, BB King, David Bowie, Maurice White, Prince and Merle Haggard and others who have fallen recently- and about 50 other acts - I had a little fun with this, and used an Allman Brothers tune to bring it all home.................

Derek thanks so much for putting together such a great montage. I can't believe Sam Bush appears only once in it. Saturday when I got there he was playing with friends of Doc, then mandomania, he joined Jack Lawerence and Joe Smothers for their set in the Walker Center before playing the entire Album Hour and then putting on a stellar set before the deluge. (I don't know how David Rawlings played.) I'm sure Sam played more these are just the times I saw him that's roughly 6 solid hours of jamming. Mr. Bush could easily give Mr. Haynes a run for hardest working man in show biz this weekend. Jason Isbell, OCMS, Tommy Emmanuel, David Rawlings are great, but Sam Bush shouldn't be overlooked! He's great and his band is killer. I've seen him plenty of times. He never disappoints and Saturday night's show was the best I've seen him. Also thanks Derek for including the tribute song at the last with my buddy Billy Mathis playing alongside Jack Lawerence and T. Michael Coleman. Billy invited me and hooked me up for a wonderful day of music. And he and I got to play for about two hours ourselves. It was my best day of 2016.
