I finally posted this on my blog...

Metallica's James Hetfield interviewed Gov't Mule's Warren Haynes and Allen Woody for this epic Guitar World cover story >>
http://bit.ly/1WJcnfs

A real career highlight for me. It was all about Dose, which came out 18 years ago this week.

Great Danny Clinch photos, too.

Wow, super cool Alan, thanks for posting.

Love some of Warren's comments:

WARREN HAYNES: ...We’re definitely not just for Allman Brothers fans.

.
.
.

HETFIELD: I really like your lyrics a lot. There’s a lot of sarcasm, and a lot of rich versus poor imagery.

HAYNES: Well, I like to think of it more as “us and them,” us being people who want to help each other and them being people who only want to help themselves. Maybe when I was a kid I had it out for all rich people, but now I know that there as many good rich people are there are bad poor people.

HETFIELD: But there’s a definite underdog vibe to your lyrics that I really dig.

HAYNES: There is, and there’s a lot of social commentary, but it’s all tongue in cheek. None of it’s meant to be taken too seriously.

My pleasure... happy to have this out there in the digital world. I thought James asked great questions. He was very prepared and truly enthusiastic.

Funny how James completely changed his mind about Jason and anything outside Metallica including the Mule. Although James himself worked with them. Shame that things took a bad turn for Metallica and Jason. He is a really good guy.

We supplied Metallica with some classic Mule shows when their tour passed through Montreal.

hetfield thinks the allman brothers sound "stiff"?

I know... I remember being taken aback by that at the time... and by Warren and Woody and basically agreeing...

That's very cool to know.. and I agree about Jason...
