Dickey used that guitar as his backup or number 2 when he played an ES-335 and later a Stratocaster back in the beginning. It had a whammy bar on it.

Then in the summer of 1970 when Dickey went to that SG ( apparently sold as a Les Paul) as his number one, the whammy bar had been removed. But you can still see the holes in the body where it use to be.

When Dickey decided to switch to a Les Paul ( Dickey went through several before finding Goldie in New York) he gave the guitar to Duane, suggesting he tune it for slide and use it instead of having to retune his number one.

When Duane died the guitar was given to, I think his name was Gary Groom, who loved Duane as a fan and fellow guitarists. The guitar later was sold to Graham Nash's wife and Graham Nash recently sold it for big big bucks. Wonder how Jackie Boy was able to play it.

Videos on You Tube of the ABB playing in summer of 1970 at the Fillmore, Atlanta pop Festival and Love Valley, North Carolina show Dickey using it for lead guitar

I watched this video over the weekend and it led me down the Jack Pearson rabbithole on Youtube. What a remarkable player. Great video.
