Is ABB 50 still happening?

Joking obviously but other than the initial announcements and an interview with Otiel I’ve heard zero about this.
Was looking forward to some anticipatory March excitement like the old days but I haven’t heard zip about any of this.
I’m not even 100% if they are having someone fill in for Gregg’s vocals or not which last I heard Warren said was still undecided.
I can’t go but am seriously hoping for a webcast which unfortunately seems unlikely given the lack of promotion.
Surprised there isn’t more interviews and activity going on after all it March in NYC with ABB again!

I'd think a stream would do well with it being a week night show.

Funny comments wife was just asking similar questions... usually with the old Beacon runs you had a few weeks of planning , pre shows after shows,etc..etc.. the old Yogi days, etc.. We are flying up for the event...but in regards to the music/band its a celebration of 50 years of ABB. not trying toduplicate an ABB show...im gonna be happy to hear great music stirring up old klassic memeories, and enjoying whom ever pops on stage....Im sure they.re will be some sweet Warren/Derek jams and others,,, should be FUN.... but hope the energy rises as we get closer.. the old roll call. etc................................just saying,,

Maybe they are just keeping things on the low down, planning things out, rehearsing, drumming up some suprises and etc. It's still a little bit out. I am sure in a few more weeks it will start getting pumped up.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

The fans aren't talking amongst themselves the same way because it's not a weeks-long run that involves travel plans for people from around the country. There's less anticipation before a blowout and it's more of a regular show that way. It's also still almost six weeks off! Derek is on the road for most of February and they'll rehearse for a week or so in early March. I'm sure you'll hear a little more then.

There was nothing like getting the announcement of dates, figuring out your weekend and reserving hotel suite, getting tickets in the Peachcorp presale (first row of balcony above loge for $59 + $12 TM fee). Pre-party announcements starting to circulate from Wonwayout, the Left Cost/Big Men, the Hospitality Suitees or the HTN team. Arriving at the Hotel Beacon on a Thursday and seeing multiple people you knew before you even got checked in to the hotel.
Was something else....

I'm sure as the date nears, you'll get more excited chatter. But I'm sure fewer people are making the trek to NYC than past Marches since it's just a single show. The only thing we don't know is who will be singing, and no guests means less to speculate about. I'm listening to "Dreams" from TTB's Beacon Bits album, and it's actually giving me the same fix. If I still lived in NYC, I'd probably go, but more likely going to save my money and listen for others to report from MSG for me.

I think part of the lack of discussion about this show is due to the fact Warren and Derek are heavily involved with their own projects which have taken center stage. Interestingly, we may have an opportunity to see Derek and Warren play with each other the first night of the BB King tribute at the Capitol on 2/16. That will be fun to watch.

I attended a number of Beacon shows from 2003-2014 including the final show. They were experiences that rank up there with the best trips, concerts and fun I have ever been apart of.
This event doesn't move the needle for me at all. No Gregg. No Butch. No Dickey. No Beacon.
Many exceptional members will be at the reunion who I love and I'm sure the music will be fantastic, it's just not an event that appeals to me. Beyond that I can't really explain my feelings. I think I would rather relive the greatness of things gone by.

The Allman Brothers Band is a thing of the past. I thought that when Duane was killed. But the 5 man band did a bunch of shows to support Eat A Peach. Then Berry Oakley was killed and I thought this has to be the end now. But Jaimoe's friend Lamar Williams took over on bass and Chuck was added a little earlier and they finished 1973 with the number one album in the country and as America's number band. I couldn't believe it. But there they were drawing crowds like the Rolling Stones. Actually it was aggravating. It was much harder to get down front or a good seat.
Then in 1976 they had succumbed to all the negative things that were now part of the band.
They never again were a band that sold records like the Stones or Pink Floyd but from 1989 to 2014 they were a great live band.
Too many original members gone now. Count Dickey out too. He cant play well now. Maybe that will change but I doubt it.
So what these guys called The Brothers are doing is pay tribute to the fans and past members and probably make a lot of money for the performance, something Jaimoe hasn't likely done since 2014.
So I will keep in mind it's a tip of the hat show to the late members and Dickey and the fans.
Hope it will be a magical show but it won't be the Allman Brothers. But hopefully it will be a great tribute show to our favorite band.

Honestly, I think because so few tickets are in the hands of FANS. Take one look at resale tix on ticketmaster. More than 1/2 the arena. Brokers are going to take a bath. I bought mine, but in retrospect, I probably should have waited. That being said, I very excited for the show.

Yeah Tim, that was SO much fun. All of the anticipation, the buildup, etc. Flying into LaGaurdia, getting into the city, taking the train to 72nd street, all of the people standing outside of The Beacon and Yogi's. Fun times!
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

I loved those Beacon weekend trips and gladly paid upwards of $2000 to come over from the UK to go to 3 gigs plus all the pre-show and post-show parties etc. making so many friends along the way. BUT, there is no way I am prepared to pay out that kind of money to come over for one gig by what is essentially a tribute band - albeit including wonderful ex ABB musicians. If I lived in NYC, then I would undoubtedly go, as it is I will just have to treasure the memories and all the wonderful friends I made along the way.

I know that there is no Gregg, Dickey, Butch but you know those guys will put on one hell of a show.
