INDIGENOUS

INDIGENOUS, a band of Native American Indians led by guitarists/vocalist/writer Mato Nanji.
As you will see, this dude knows his way around a Stratocaster. I guess it's no big surprise; he's been on the Experience Hendrix tour several times.
I shot this yesterday at The American Music Festival.

I got hooked on these guys when "Circle" came out in 2000. I beleive that was produced by Doyle Bramhall senior. The band has gone through alot of lineup changes and basically its just Mato Nanji and whoever else. The early stuff before circle is really good , but they kinda lost me after that.
Mato Nanji did a group thing with Luther Dickinson and David Hidalgo called "3 Skulls And The Truth"

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Yes that is top notch Strat playing.
I agree with Clapton and SVR that a Strat is the best all around guitar ever made for electric playing. Stevie said you can actually get more notes and emotions with a Strat. And I would add good knowledge of the whammy bar adds to the menu.
Here is some hot Strat playing from Gary. At 3:57 he does a move Dickey Betts often does. Maybe he got it from seeing Dickey(?)
I'm a big Les Paul fan too and no doubt they usually have a fatter sound. Gary, I believe, was more of a Les Paul man too when he wasn't trying to sound like SVR or play heavy metal style.
The last few years Dickey was in the ABB, he played a Strat mostly but his style was still Dickey. Red Dog said Dickey, at times, would stray from the Les Paul and use a Strat, SG, ES-335 etc but with him it still sounded like Dickey Betts.

The original family band was awesome.
Now, it's just Mato and hired guns, not anywhere near as good.
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Saw the family band open for Jonny Lang around 2000, good band.
I own Circle & Things We Do.
