Why we argue so vehemently about Betts,The Brothers,its history...

We love this band and its one of a kind music.We love and respect the band members,and based on our impressions,often of public statements,or based on some brief encounters,we choose who we like or not.Meanwhile,we keep loving the music.
So,I understand our passion,love for particular people and its natural to choose sides in a feud.
But,it's over.The ABB,no matter our favorite eras is gone.
I'm sitting here listening to the last show,still reeling from being there,and it makes no sense.Anyone who hears this and loves good music will understand the magnitude of this show.The pure brilliance.Just like Fillmore East.the reunion years from 89...Jack,Chuck/Lamar years...Duane,Berry...where it all began.
Dickey is huge in ABB history.He accomplished so much.I'm grateful for his massive contribution.
I'm also grateful for Derek,Warren and Oteil.A tremendous run.
So,I don't get it,what's to argue about? Why trash Dickey.We weren't there.We are here.And we have this incredible legacy,ending with bookends of the greatest music ever...AFE>10/28/14.
I feel blessed to have the music...and to have had the experiences...I don't fully get it...why argue...
Feel free to differ,but positive energy is better for the body and soul,so what the heck!

I like both the ABB, and some of DB's solo stuff from decades ago. I saw DB&GS once in the summer of 2003 and it was a good show for him, and I'm glad I got to see him, as well as going to lots of ABB shows through the years from '99-'11.
Dickey is HUGE in ABB history.

It is like a STD. No matter how fun it was, you don't want to get it.
Quite simply: Dickey Betts was the single most important member of the band. His writing and managing of the band when it was needed will never be duplicated. He really formed the Brothers sound. And yes he can be a big prick.
