There is a pretty good documentary on Netflix called (oddly) History of the Eagles.
This band is one of those that I can't say I am a real fan, but due to the exposure, I (we all) have pretty much heard everything they have ever done. Watching this film made me appreciate them more.

Yeah, I've heard all those songs and sometimes change the station when the come on, but lately I kind of like them more than I ever thought I would. Should be a worthwhile show I think, might try and track down a recent live show to see how they sound and all. Tickets weren't cheap. I got $138 each for back of the venue, but center with stage on an aisle, that is what my wife likes. It is in a college basketball arena. Bunches of higher prices tickets and packages. Eagles never let a money making opportunity slip by do they?

I've spoken with several people that have seen them in recent years and all say the performance is excellent, but also meticulous to the last detail...nothing out of the norm, no improv, everything carefully planned. In other words, it's Don Henley's show.

Saw them at MSG last year and Bernie Leadon sat in for some of his Eagles contributions. The set list is predictable very polished performances by all musicians and Glenn talks a bit throughout. Joe Walsh gets a few breakout tunes you will recognize. All in all a great show! Enjoy it....

It is an excellent performance, 90% hits played exactly as they sound on the original recordings. My girlfriend was an Eagles fan and sung along with every song; I was bored to tears.

I also saw KISS in 2000, the FIRST year of their farewell tour.
I saw them in 1994 and then again in 2008. Both shows were outstanding. I'm not really a fan of Henley or (especially) Frey but Joe Walsh always steals the show. I normally skip their songs when I hear them on the radio but hearing them back to back to back in a live setting is a real treat.

The security was mental at this show - there was a sign outside informing patrons that if they used their phones for texting they would be asked to leave. Signs said you couldn't stand up and that anyone using a phone for pictures would also be asked to leave. Brother Ruprecht, as you know, is a simple soul but does like to understand the rules. He stood in front of this sign for a quite a long time and re-read it. Finally he was certain that it didn't say anything specific about using a Sony PCM M10B so he decided it was OK to carry on as planned and see if he could get a good recording. On hearing it I think he succeeded.

If you're a big Eagles fan you'll love it.I got cheap tics (but good seats) at MSG recently. I wasn't a Big fan of their recent stuff but loved them in the early days. They do all periods but its very controlled & concise. They attempt to make it intimate & personal & thats good for the big fans,(personally I like when bands mix things up a bit.) If you want spontanaity,well...Joe Walsh just opens things up at the end & takes it to another level. The rowdies go nuts! Personally I never really gave him enough credit but he's truly a master onstage.
(They bring different earlier members back for different periods mending their differences & their hired backup session band is very good.They probably have the show timed down to the second.)

If you are in the front row you might get some fake blood splattered on you. Don't wear any clothes you care about.
I think they are all wearing the full costumes again for this tour, for the first time in years, so that will be a treat.

Saw the Hell Freezes Over Tour and from what I have been reading about the tours after that, it's basically in line with my opinion...Yes, it's a great show..HIGH price tix, all the hits..played EXACTLY like the record..that's why I have only gone once..which is what you or anyone should do..just for Joe Walsh!
oh,and did I mention the part when Walsh is introduced as an 'old New Jersey boy" -Bruce Springsteen walks up from the rear of the stage playing 'Born in the USA' as they head into a trio of Springsteen songs.Or the part on "the Long Run' where Derek Trucks surprises the crowd & joins them on blistering slide & they intro Gary Clarke jr just to 'blues it up a bit'. There's also my favorite, where the lead guitarist from Godsmack joins them 1/2 way thru on an extra drum kit for the 1 hr double drum solo,revolving around the stage ..lit up. That parts still playing over & over in my head.
on a more serious note,don't be surprised to see well dressed women on their facebook & cells during the show.We had 2 on either side of us while the show was happening looking at pics & searching facebook friends during the show for an hour.(Go figure) Oh,& yes you very well may encounter older drunk guys pissed off about something during the show.We had one guy going to punch someone yelling he paid $800 each for his seats for his wife (didn't clap during the entire show) & some other guy yelling & spilling his beer everywhere...prob pissed about the $ too.I swear,I don't know why some of these people bother going to see the show!
Oh,and there were some that were very disappointed they weren't wearing their platform shoes & makeup on this particular tour.

I've never been much of an Eagles fan. Used to hear them all the time on the radio back in the 70's. Thought they were OK but never bothered to buy any of their albums or go to any of their shows. Had a chance to see them play a benefit for The Walden Woods Project at The Wang Theatre in Boston, several months ago. Had the opportunity to get a ticket in the balcony for $50 so I decided to go and check them out. I have to say I thought they put on one of the most enjoyable shows I've ever been to and I've been to probably around 1,000 or so shows by hundreds of different bands over several decades. They sounded fantastic, the musicianship was top-notch and Joe Walsh got lots of love from the audience and was worth the price of admission alone.
Expect rude jerks on their cellphones, talking and yelling during the performance, general rudeness,drunks.

Eagles (really not a "the" at the front) are arguably America's greatest band. Hold your water or coffee for a second! Don't spew on your keyboard or at me! Let me explain.
"Arguably" and "greatest" need to be modified with the words, "commercially accessible". While you'll get a large representation of the Celine Dion crowd, these guys are all amazing players. Their music contains some of the same elements as that as some of your favorite bands of the 1970's. They have a couple of fine guitarists who even lay down some tasty slide work at times. I'd say that a "Greatest Hits" format would probably be a no-brainer. These guys are like Chicago in that respect - almost everything they did came out gold. Theirs is a top-40 catalogue. Not so many deep or obscure cuts anywhere. Yeah, you've heard it all before.
I had the good fortune to see them open for Yes ... around 1972(?) before they became a household name. Of course now, in terms of record sales and popularity, they're one of the biggest bands ever (popularity fading as the number of fans from that era begin to fade away from the right side of the grass).
Should be a good show. I'll only go if they play within 50 miles of me - which ain't gonna happen.
Saw them twice in the last couple of years first at the Beacon and then at MSG. I had never been a big fan but these guys play very very well together - they are pros. They also sound good and still have a passion for their music. I went in the first time a so so fan and left with much more respect for them and the desire to see them again. It was a very fun time but nights. And Joe Walsh is a madman!

Have never seen the Eagles live but love a lot of their songs. They have quite a catalog of great songs both musically and lyrically. Did see Don Henley solo and his band did a good job playing Eagles material but it wasn't the Eagles. What I love about them is their versatility live with three different singers who can take the lead and all be excellent although each unique and they are perfectionists as musicians.
I would love to see Gov't Mule do an Eagles set for one of their one off Halloween or NYE shows. They would have to add in another rhythm guitar or two and some backing vocals but the Eagles wide variety of styles lends itself to Gov't Mule's versatility.
