"PLAY IT STEVE!!!"

Which Sam and Dave song in the late 60's has Sam Moore saying " Play it Steve!" in the middle of the song? I remember hearing that before finding out Sam was talking about Steve Cropper. It was probably Hold On I'm Coming or I'm A Soul Man.

Steve Cropper has always been a class act.....

And a hellava musician...

Thanks for sharing, cryptic story of Donald Duck Dunn’s bass guitar

Man, that was RIGHTEOUS. Thanks, porkchop!

Steve "The Colonel" Cropper
Donald "Duck" Dunn
Matt "Guitar" Murphy
"Blue" Lou Marini
Paul "The Shiv" Shafer
"Mr. Fabulous" Alan Rubin
I couldn't resist naming most of the Blues Brothers Band, having said that Steve Cropper is one of the great underrated guitarists of all time. He's been a player on the music scene for almost 60 years. Such an understated guy. Always had the utmost respect for him.

I agree! Mike Bloomfield was a huge fan, even wrote a song dedicated to Steve on his Electric Flag album; see track #8
