How blue can you get?

Don't shoot me for I am young and dumb but I just stumbled across the Hourglass version of the BB King Medley from the Duane Allman Anthology 1 album.
I listen to the ABB channel on Google play while jogging (I recommend the listening not the jogging) around Victoria. Anyway is that GA on vocals? Doesn't sound like it but I can't find anything on line that states who is singing. Is it Clarence Carter?
Cheers!!

I've always felt that it didn't sound like Gregg either but I'm sure it is. Funny we had the same thought. Maybe poor recording production?
I could be wrong and am sure someone will point it out but that's Gregg (IMO)

Without a doubt it is Gregg. Back when he could still hit the high notes!!
Gave me chills when I first heard it and still to this day, that medley puts the voodoo on me.
The Gregg Voice and The Duane Guitar.
There is nothing finer.

One of the few disappointments of the 40th Anniversary Beacon run was that they did not cover this. Never quite understood why as it is a great performance that is seminal in the eventual ABB's development, coming at a time when they had reached the peak of frustration with Liberty records and couldn't find an outlet on their own artistic path.

I thought the same thing listening to it yesterday (when I figured out who it was). Why wasn't this played more? Such a great tune.

Yeah, definitely Gregg. Just early Gregg, with a little less growl. Pretty amazing how much his voice matured by the time they cut their first album.

I'm always surprised there aren't more tapes of the later incarnations of Hourglass out there doing their blues based repertoire, not the California crap. Or the jams from the Whiskey.

Hourglass didn't play that many shows, did they? Didn't the record label have them just sit around most of the time and not perform?
I don't think they did that many shows, much less after they came back and recorded the BB King Medley.

They played the Whiskey a bit and jammed with plenty of California's finest. I've been told there are tapes, but never heard of any.
