This was a great show. Some folks like Jack and Jill, some may like Jack & Coke, Some may even dig Jack and Diane, but Jack and Jorma did just fine for me. It was just the 2 Gents acoustic. Very intimate atmosphere for this last night of a sold out 4 night NYC Winery run. Sweet varied set list every night. These are 2 old school talent freaks that are a treasure to the music loving world, A breed I'm not too sure will regenerate in today's musical generation next. Jack Casady played percussion and lead on bass while Jorma Kaukonen played his blend of acoustic blues, folk, and rock. Jazzy in a way at times to frolicking Mississippi John Hurt style runs with everything in between. They're on tour in a few different formats in the upcoming weeks. Deep catalogue of the Gents from solo work, to Hot Tuna, to Jefferson Airplane, and legendary deep blues covers make each and every show special and worthy of an ass in a chair at every show. My ass was surely delighted. I grabbed a shirt and a couple discs on the way out and have been enjoying a CD from 2011 called Steady As She Goes. A few nice tunes telling relatable life stories with quality picking. Some mando and fiddles thrown in on tunes like Vicksburg Stomp. Things That Might Have Been was a family story I could relate to. I've missed some of these discs and will have to play catch up on some. I post this in hopes that you won't miss out either. See and enjoy the Gents while you can.

Thanks; Hot Tuna has always been one of my favorites of all time. If you don't know Jorma, you don't know Jack!

"If you don't know Jorma, You don't know Jack!" I Love it!

I've been playing casual guitar for 30+ years. It's one of the loves of my life. Never out, I'm a couch warrior. In life there's lessons in all you see and it all comes down to how deeply you want look at what your seeing. I tape to document and capture musical moments in time, but I also selfishly focus on the guitarist's hands (I look deep), The lessons learned have been many. I put things together and grab my guitar and I smile as I join in weapon in hand from said couch. Anyway I threw the initial vid's up at random with an eye on all eras, but never should have left this fun and telling fret work display from Mr. Kaukonen off the list.

Candy Man (Rev. Gary Davis)

On the fun quest subject, Here's some nice fretwork from Tab Laven (w/Art Garfunkel)
