Whatever the real meaning is...all the more reason to honor this legend at his final shows. I’m having an early afternoon brew listening to the live in Germany Liz Reed we al know & love. Go see him and appreciate all he gave us. Once it’s over....it’s over. Let him know what his music meant to all of us.

"My career is over," Betts said in November 2017. “It's a little bit of burnout, a little sour grapes, a little bit like a boxer who gives it up. It's pretty tough, to tell you the truth. Everyone wishes they could be young forever. But I feel like I did my work, and I'm not gonna do anything that's gonna top what I'm known for. So why don't you just stay home?"

To me, this is his admission. We can all interpret it as we wish I guess.

I never interpreted this as "can't play" (he had recently guested on an album referenced earlier in this thread), only that the road is for the young and he's content staying home retired.

Talk about twisting his words. He never comes close to saying that "he can't play anymore".

What he is saying is that no matter what he does from that point forward, someone will always sh*t on it. This thread and countless others are proof that he was right.

To expect someone to play at their peak for eternity? No he doesn't play at near the level that he did at 20. Neither do 99% of the other guitarists that are in their 70s.

It's Only R&R people. Those expecting to step back to 1973 are either unrealistic beyond logic, have not paid attention over the 50 years or just want to stir crap around on an internet forum.

Like those with the need to bash Linnie Skinnie to death over the years even though they don't go to the shows or buy new albums.

Don't like it - don't go. Don't enjoy the video - why keep watching it? And then waste even more of your time debating a video that you didn't like.

Anyone who goes to that length countless times over the years to try and convince everyone to hate Dickey too..........well Dickey must have slept with his wife. Or they are just incredibly lonely, bitter people who can't stand anyone enjoying themselves or having a different opinion.

This should be a time to celebrate and enjoy what may not be around again. Don't like it then just stay home and watch Nolan Ryan throw 100 mph fastballs over the plate, toss a no hitter and matching what he did in his prime at 71 years old. Perhaps Kareem will sign with the Lakers and average 40 points per game next season at 71 years old.

Or do Ryan and Kareem suck because they are not as good as they used to be? I could see either in some form of Oldies/Alumni game and love it without any expectations of performances like 50 years ago.

Dickey is a good man. Have always said it on here. Also can't recall a single person on here that knows him or met him and had a bad experience.

I have read all sorts of rumoured BS, speculation and delusional tenth hand stories.

Luke is a good friend and has always had his back. Might not get punctuation correct, nor is grammar his strength but his heart is there and level of friendship to be admired. That level of friendship is there for a reason. He knows Dickey is a good guy who has treated him well. We should all have friends like that - stay with us through thick and thin. I have a few friends like that and wish I had more.

Exactly,James.

And,yes,Luke is a solid guy-some years back I spoke with him and left that conversation clearly feeling that Luke is the real deal.

Alright kettle ,whatever ya say.I mean i hear your name and character status come up in the highest realm's.Spiritual guru, spelling bee champion, financial genius, scholar of the art's & culinary, legendary musical professor, master of science & middle east prophecy. The list of your accomplishment's and degree's would make Einstein look and sound like Pee Wee Herman on a mega dose of thorazine.May i suggest we all sit back, read ,take note's and apply your almost Godly mentality quote's to our live's.And only hope we can lift our mere mortal feet to the first step on the ladder of spiritual awareness and knowledge that you sit high upon the top of.
When i read your comment's ,i sit in wonder and amazement.
All hail the great PhotoRon!

This is your interpretation, which is fine. But people should be aware that you also interpreted Disney World to be an accurate and realistic representation of living in America, so......

For what it's worth, I think LUKE types that way on purpose, to create some Southern character or something. He knows how to spell "you", he just wants to portray someone.

As for the Dickey links, thanks to all who posted those suggestions. I listened to most of them yesterday, and will continue today. Lord do I miss that intensity. What a great showman.

You were not smart enough to grasp anything then so not surprised about now. Not surprised that you are still mad and hold a grudge/

The fact that you get "I can't play anymore" out of that statement gives some insight as to why you are always so wrong.

Hate all you like - beautiful day here. Hope it is elsewhere for all of you. Play it loud - whatever it is that you like. Even Dickey. 😉

Yes a DB topic can be an interesting match between ppl on this site. Its amazing really .
My post awhile back was not intended for the person who started this topic ... I actually enjoyed his review a lot ... I think they know Who I was referring to. Its the same back and forth we’ve had for years.. I ‘m interested in the musical DB as a fan and some ppl think they know him personal and can judge him on his private life , have huge and unbelievable expectations of what he should be now etc.. Luke this is not you by any means.. We’ve had a good ABB/DB friendship on here for yrs...

Im with the folks who say ...go see ‘em ,enjoy the legend ,dance ur heart out , get that special feeling that only DB can give.. I luv ‘em ....
Hey I luv EC too and Jimi H ....but DB is it for me... I remember the days with fondness makes my heart sing.

Go see ‘em ... Blue Sky Days are better than sour grapes....

I am so flattered.

I'm an atheist so that "godly mentality" thing is kinda confusing though.

Thanks for the laugh, Luke.

Have a good night.

On a side note, Luke, how do you know so much about butt plugs?

Is it some sort of hobby for you, or a regular part of your day?

Credit goes all to you man.One of your tale's year's back bout when ya was doin time.Didn't ya write when it was shower time,& if someone farted, you'd holler out"Keep talkin sweet lip's,I'll find ya."I think you mentioned the plug's in that rant as well.As far as myself and experience with em.I only use one when I'm ridin my old hard tail 49.Oh man!Turn that thing on turbo mode,& it's off to the race's.But i know that don't come close to your daily escapade's by any stretch.
Sure hope all t's were crossed,I's dotted, and comatose mark's put in close enough to the correct place for ya to make out and understand above line's

Thanks for posting those old Mickey Mouse cartoons. I remember seeing them as a kid decades ago, and they brought back nice memories.
