HAYNES, POPPER, GIBBONS NYC 11/10

ANYONE GOING TO THIS SHOW? KINDA SURPRISED ITS NOT SOLD OUT YET.NEVER BEEN TO THE HIGHLINE BEFORE BUT HEARD IT IS PRETTY INTIMATE.

I got tickets. The Highline is great, saw the Derek Trucks Band there a few years ago, great venue. Holds 700 standing, 400 seated. Should be a great show!

I'm in...and have waited a long time to see Warren & Billy together. 400 seats ?, does that meant there is a place to sit down?? Anybody got more info on seating, venue layout etc. Thanks

I will go, but if Popper plays over Billy or Warren one time, I may become homicidal. I can't stand his playing.

Maybe you shouldn't go...

MuleMe - from tripadvisor: Owner description: The Highline Ballroom is a 700-capacity standing, 400-capacity fully seated venue located in the heart of Chelsea. Long known as the artistic heart of New York replete with its artist lofts, gallery spaces and charm, the Chelsea neighborhood was the perfect location choice for the space. Nestled beneath the High Line, a 1.45-mile-long elevated public space complete with landscaping and viewing outposts that runs through the West Side neighborhoods, the Ballroom boasts a state-of-the art sound and light system, a balcony, seated wings and a variety of floor setups. The venue’s pristine production quality allows for superstar stadium acts to play a more intimate show for their fans without compromising the level of sound or performance. Marquee artists from Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Carlos Santana to Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Amy Winehouse have all been swayed by the unique ambiance of the Highline Ballroom.

Alan - Did you see Soulgrass with Popper when they played the Blue Note earlier this year? Pretty lively show!

I am excited to be going - A benefit for Veterans and 3 outstanding artists!
I appreciate that you can get food if you get there early enough to score a seat. When I saw Blues Traveler there it was so packed I could not find a place to stand so I am not sure they honor that 700 capacity number.

Could this be...upstairs VIP w/seating and floor GA standing ??????
Tix still available

Al, that's why you don't write for harmonica world…...

It's not sold out because its $125 a ticket. You can see Billy Gibbons with the same band (minus Warren and Popper) for $30 the next day at Brooklyn Bowl. I am doing that instead.

I saw Billy with the musicians he is playing Brooklyn Bowl with a few months ago. He does ALOT of talking and is laid back like a lounge act. They will definitely be 2 very different shows. It is a costly ticket but 100% goes to Veterans' charities, which is nice the night before Veteran's Day.
The interaction between the 3 will be synergistic. I dig all 3 but if you don't care for Popper it wouldn't be worth it. I am looking forward to the show.

Any attendees willing to throw out a couple of tidbits about this show? Overall impressions and how was the guitar work and any highlights or lowlights?

Great show!
House band did a great set with a sax player they said worked w/ Billy Joel.
Then Popper joined that band and did a great jam with the sax player.Did a couple of songs and ended his set w/Runaround.The sound was great and the event was crowded, good for the Vets!
Warren then played w/ the house band, did River's Gonna Rise,SoulShine,The Beatles' Don't Let Me Down, Feel like Breakin"up someone's home and perhaps some others. Then Warren left and Billy did a nice bluesy set .He played an awesome guitar with Buck Owens' face and name on it. Then Warren & Popper came out so they all could jam together. I had worked a hard day before the show so being satisfied with what I had already hear I left out of fatigue.Perhaps someone else could comment on that part of the show. I sure dug what I heard and glad they raised money for the Vets!

thanks! WOuld have loved to be there . Watchning Billy Gibbons perform is never boring esp. if its mainly blues.

Nice benefit show. Went in about 7:45, house band was up and playing. After a couple of songs Popper comes out to play a few more tunes. Sax good guy was pretty good. Popper leaves, out comes Warren... River gonna Rise had me grooving right away. Beatles tune, Soulshine, Beautifully Broken, Breakin up somebodies home. Warren exits, Billy comes out, I thank You, couple blues tunes, Jesus Chicago. Typical Billy banter then, These boots were make for walking with lyric change..."made for Shuffling, one of these days these boots are gonna shuffle all over you---" Then Sixteen tons. Warren is called back, La grange with great slide solo by Warren, back and forth with Billy, Popper. Encore Sweet Chicago. Done by 10:45 er'so. Really had a great time except for the GA standing all night. Venue was full but not packed tight and thinned out just well before the encores. Somewhat of a Wall street crowd, not a lot of hard core fans. I had a fun time and was very happy to finally see Billy & Warren play together.

If anybody can find/has a full set list for the show I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
