Just do it! Visit Oahu for a week. Go to Pearl Harbor. My favorite island is Kauai: complete "Polynesian Paralysis" especially on the north shore.

The road to Hana?? Maui?? I definitely need to see the Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor....and Polynesian Paralysis sounds like a lifestyle I could easily adopt....

you will get a different answer from everyone. For a one time visit, Oahu and one other island. Need to see Pearl Harbor and North Shore beach on Oahu. After that no reason to spend any time on the Island.

People will tell you Kaui or Maui which for a first time tourist are probably best places to visit for a few days.

The best Island IMO opinion is Hawaii---the Big Island. You have the Volcano park, Astronomy on top of Mauna Kea, the best diving and snorkeling, the sunniest place in the United States on the Kona coast the a rain forest on the other side of the Island. Amazing white and black sand beaches and there is even a GREEN beach which is spectacular to see.

If visiting Maui the snorkeling at Molokini is a must. It's a beautiful national preserve.

Never been to the Big Island but Kauai is beautiful and very laid back. Waimea Canyon and Napali coast are a must.
