It was 25 years ago. I was on a big fishing trip up north. Woke up to the news, couldn't believe it. Couldn't really enjoy the rest of trip. I knew we had just lost a special one.
Thanks for the great tunes Stevie

I had to pull off the road when I heard it on the radio. like taking a hard gut-punch.

Same here.

I was on my way in to bartend a lunch shift, had to pull into a strip mall parking lot.

Listened to his next to last show on the way to golf tonight.

It worked wonders, tied my best round ever at the course.

Same here, just couldn't believe when it came across the radio, rock station was playing alot of SRV which I thought odd. Then after the 3rd or 4th song the dj said why. Stevie went down in a helicopter crash. One of only a handful of musicians that I can say I never heard a bad show. He poured his heart and soul into each performance.

RIP Stevie

RIP - Stevie. In a time when other band members were out getting mani & pedis and perms and fashion appointments you walked on stage in a cowboy hat and a well worn guitar and delivered a charge of high energy blues and rock that mesmerized me.

Wish I could've had the chance to see him live. My parents saw him several times and said he was awesome every show!! If you want to see a great performance, get Live At The El Mocambo. It kicks ass!!

I was lucky to see Stevie in 1983 in an old theatre, converted to a bar called Barrymore's in Ottawa. I was awestruck. It was such a powerful performance. I miss him and try to celebrate his legacy every year on the date of his last performance at Alpine Valley Aug 26th and again on the 27th.
