For hardcore Bloomfield fans, "Blues Connotation," a jazz and blues radio program on WJFF 90.5 FM, hosted every Tuesday night by David Dann, will celebrate Michael's birthday with an hour-long broadcast beginning at 9 p.m. EST. Featured will be a number of excellent, never-before-heard Bloomfield performances. If you're not in the neighborhood, you can tune in on the web by going to the station's website at wjffradio.org.

Wow, Mike would have been 72 yrs old today. As much as I love the music he has left for us just imagine the legacy that might have been, if he had overcome his demons. Thanks for posting the link to tonights tribute - time well spent. Happy Birthday Mike, you are sorely missed

Isn't WJFF in Sullivan County? I think I used to listen to it a few years ago on my tuner. I will try to tune it in again. Listened to "Super Session" not too long ago. WOW! Also have the Bloomfield/Kooper Live at The Fillmore East show - WOW again!

Mike was one of my biggest influences next to Duane Mike was my other guitar hero.....the first 2 Paul Butterfield albums really show Mike at some of his best.

I went to see Mike a few weeks before he passed and he did a no-show so we got 2 sets of Etta Jams as she was the opener for Mike that night. Since he didn't show she did the whole night...

I was extra sad when I learned he passed and that I missed my chance to see him live....considering where he was headed at the time it wasn't unexpected that he'd no-show since he had a reputation for that kind of thing.

A great talent cut short...he did leave us a lot of great music to enjoy...guess I'll have to play I got a mind to give up living...my Fav Mike Bloomfield solo and Paul Butterfield band cut

I remember when I heard he passed , how saddened and disappointed I was , I was in high school and Super Session was one of my favourite albums along with the first two BBB albums . Still listen to those three albums quite regularly , I do enjoy several other albums of his but those three are special could you imagine if he played on both sides of Super Session .

I've never really got or understood the Bloomfield phenomena though I know a lot of people really dug him including Johnny Winter.

This would be my choice to introduce someone to Mike....although I know you've been introduced this cut for me is the quintessential Mike Bloomfield

There are several "moments" in this cut that just strike me as "soulful" but the b5 note he throws in during the 3rd bar of the 3rd verse and the way he works it and resolves it just chills me every time I hear it.....also the way he builds his solo is just blues guitar 101

Oh Yeah TURN IT UP !!! Cool
