Butch is 76. Okay I know being in the Allman Brothers can make a man age faster than most people. Happy Birthday Butch Trucks. The backbone of all versions of the Allman Brothers. I think he and Gregg are the only two in all versions. Jaimoe was voted out in 1980 and I remember Butch saying it didn't take long until is was sorry he voted with the other two originals to removed Jaimoe. The entire band decided to back out mainly due to changing tastes in music and a bad situation with Aristar records in 1982. Gregg took the Toler Brothers with him and Butch hooked up with Dickey and Chuck and Jimmy Hall for Betts, Hall, Leavell and Trucks, a band I saw three or four times and I thought they were very good. When the Brothers played again which was 1986, Jaimoe was back. But they only did 2 shows that year and didn't play again until 1989. I was looking at footage from the 1970 Love Valley show on YouTube and noticed Jaimoe played traditional grip and Butch matched grip that night. Anyway Butch is the one that kept time with the drums on all their songs except Standback on Eat A Peach. Jaimoe either played with or around Butch and added color or played percussion or didn't play on the track at all...except for Standback. And Butch as said in interviews it was his idea that Jaimoe play the main drum track on that one because Butch thought his style was just right for it.

Well, I think he would be 68....... (?????) Unless 1947 is wrong! Wikepedia agrees on that....

I wish Butch a Happy Birthday and many more. I have been a critic, but never of him musically for sure. He is an amazing and great drummer and have loved him much over the years.

Go Butch HB!
