I drove up to the Savannah suburb of Pooler last night to catch Velvet Caravan - a Gypsy jazz outfit (in the vein of Django Reinhardt) playing at Randy's Pickin Parlor. Randy's Pickin Parlor is the listening room at Randy Wood's Guitars. Adjacent to the venue and guitar emporium is a very good southern barbecue restaurant called Mac's. This was one-stop shopping at its finest! I ate delicious barbecue, browsed vintage and hand-made instruments and then caught a great show by a first-rate Gypsy jazz band! Check Randy's schedule. If you're ever in the area stop by for a show or just to shop Randy's music store!
