Joe Bonamassa tone tips for a Gibson Les Paul
Joe Bonamassa master class, Les Paul volume and tone knob tips
I only saw PF once and what stuck me being WAY BACK from the stage in a sea of people was what a fantastic sound system they had. Every instrument and the vocals were clear, clean and just as loud as every other thing on stage. Same experience here. What a high dollar sound system it must be!!!
Norman's Rare Guitar of the day ESP LTD Bela Lugosi super strat. So very 80's metal
John Mayer absolutely wonderful guitar playing!!!

@bill_graham 90 percent of Joe Bonamassa's guitars are in MINT condition and 10 percent are being played hard on the road by Joe himself!!
Keith Richards has 3,000 quality guitars with 250 Les Pauls. But Keef only plays about 10 of them.

Peavy Adrian Vandenburg reissue super strat guitars.
Vandenberg played in Whitesnake and had his own band.
I had the chance to play an original from the late 80's and they are beautifully guitars but ended up getting my ESP.

Steve Vai's guitar collection. Steve played with Vandenburg briefly in Whitesnake.
Going to see Vai coheadline with Joe Satriani at the Boston Orpheum in April. Really looking forward to that show. Should be a guitar onslaught.

This Isn't Guitar-Collecting Socialism': Joe Bonamassa Responds to 'Trolls' Who Call Him Out for Buying Too Many Vintage Guitars
@bill_graham I support Joe. He is a great player, loves guitars and gear and wants to own the guitars he sees and likes.
Yes it's nice when a vintage Les Paul is being played by a decent musician but Joe isn't a collector/investor who isn't a player.
I think Peter Green's famous Les Paul Goldtop was owned by a collector who doesn't play before Kirt Hammitt of Metallica bought it for $2 million.

@bill_graham Those are some fantastic guitars Bill. The Black Beauty Les Paul 1954 Custom has a wonderful tone. And the Epiphone Black Les Paul with gold hardware and three pickups sounds good to o me too.
But if I bought a Les Paul it has to say Gibson on the headstock. Don't know why I'm hung up on that.
The Strat is a sweet guitar too. Great tone and I bet it's a fantastic rhythm guitar.
Steve Via said young players need to pay more attention to their rhythm playing which he said is crucial to being a good guitarist.
In another article I was disappointed to read Steve saying vintage guitars just don't have what he likes in an ax and Les Pauls and Strats are just not his bag.
Steve is a Ibanez man and don't they pay him?
This reminds me of a riff I've heard before. Did Dickey use this lick on an Allman Brothers Band album?

Donner travel guitar. Pretty cool for someone who travels a lot and likes to play everyday. Pretty reasonably priced I think.

Someone put Gibson's $1,000 PAF humbucker pickups in a $400 guitar
@bill_graham Marketing! I appreciate the comment up front - "... they've been re-creating these pickups for years - shoulda had a correct "mass marketable" version already" (paraphrased). I'm sure these are great pickups, but it's like the constant "remastering" of albums (LAFE for example). Towards the latter - more often, they DID get it right the first time. A lot of the re-re-freakin-RE mastered recordings DON'T sound as good as the originals to MY ears.
$1,000.00 for a set of 'em? How much did that faux-naugahyde case cost? 😉
@rusty Yeah I agree I am sure they are excellent pickups but there are tons of pickup mfg who have studied the original PAF pickups and claim to have broken the code.
Prices for reissue PAF's seem to range from a couple of $100 to these new Gibson's @$1000.
Considering my skill level changing the pickups in my Les Paul would be a waste of money but based on the large number of companies making PAF replica reissues there is big market for people hoping to experience the magic of those original Gibson PAF's.
Smart move by Gibson as the limited edition run of 1000 units sold out fast. I wonder how many people that bought them will ever actually install them in a guitar or just keep them hoping they appreciate or just as a trophy to look at and brag about on guitar forums?

@bill_graham Considering my own skill level - $1,000.00 pickups would be the equivalent of buying a Water-Pik when you have only three teeth! Fortunately for me, my dental health is better than my guitar skills! 😉
