Moving this from the "this should make you furious" thread.
The most expensive guitar in Joe Bonamassa's collection.
And, no, it is not a Les Paul

@bill_graham Yes it's surprising his most expensive is a mint condition Gibson Flying V. The V was never a guitar a lot of players played to me. Don't remember that many players sporting one on stage through the years.
Joe's 500 guitar collection has to be worth millions. It's nice Joe has been successful enough to afford such a collection.
Keith Richards 6,000 guitar collection is the Mecca collection but not much is offered about it.
Keith indicated about 250 of them are Les Pauls and being the jokester he seems to be stated "I own 6,000 guitars. It's quite a collection but I only have two hands so I actually play about 10 of them!"

Yeah, I take what Keef says with a grain of salt as you never know if he is serious or just riffing for an interview,
I have no doubt he has a lot of guitars in storage somewhere but he only seems to play a handful of favorites.
In some interviews he evidently claims to own between 1K and 3k which is still a crazy number if true.

https://www.fuelrocks.com/keith-richards-and-his-acoustic-guitars/

@bill_graham Just finished doing some serious digging on line and the equipment guys with the Stones say Keith doesn't know exactly how many guitars he has in that big storage space but its actually somewhere between 2 and 3 thousand. Keith is being silly when he sometimes says 5 or 6 thousand.
Okay it seems it's actually 2 to 3 thousand. And Keith says he was a big Les Paul man early in his career so that is why he has about 250 Les Pauls but in recent decades Keith favored Fender Telecasters and a chunk of his collection are Teles.
The rest is made up with all kinds of makes and modles several of which he has never played in the band but decided to buy it anyway.
I found three different places where the people know Keith and his collection reasonably well and the truth is it's between 2 and 3 thousand and Keith for some reason either can't remember the exact number or never actually kept count when he was on a buying spree.
Keith's net worth at two sites on line is pegged at $500 million plus.
So Keef certainly has the dough to buy a pile of guitars.

I believe there were only 250 Korina V's made. Albert King, Dave Daves, Lonnie Mack and Andy Powell used them at one time. The V was reintroduced in the mid '60's, but they were made from Mahogony, and had a different neck joint.

Yeah they are more rare than 58/59/60 Les Paul's
Gibson just released Epiphone reissues of the Korina's
Nice looking guitars at a decent price all things considered if you like those models.

Fender Deluxe Reverb Blackface vs. Silver face amp comparison
Always wanted a vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb but could not afford the asking prices for preCBS versions.
I own a 1975 Silverface Fender Deluxe Reverb in nice condition I bought off of eBay about 10 years ago for a great price at the time. I recapped it, changed the speaker to a Weber Ceramic, filled it with vintage NOS vacuum tubes and it sounds great IMHO.
Silverface amps were looked down on in the past but prices have risen as players found out they were great values compared to the more coveted Blackface amps that go for big $$$.
After buying Fender in 1965 CBS starting changing the circuitry on the higher wattage Blackface amps which eventually became Silverface cosmetics. The changes were not popular with guitar players as it changed the vintage Fender amp sound to the point where owners were modifying, "blackfacing", their Silverface amps to get the circuitry as close to the preCBS amps as possible.
Luckily they did not make big changes to the Deluxe Reverb until the late 1970's so the early to mid 1970's Silverface Deluxe Reverb amp circuits are close to their Blackface cousins and still have some of the Blackface tone and vibe.
Article on Silverface amps and mod suggestions.

Interesting video comparing a 1965 Blackface to a 1974 Silverface Deluxe Reverb.
I thought both amps sounded good with the biggest difference being the 74 Silverface Reverb was "wetter" with more echo than the 65 Blackface reverb at the same knob settings. I wonder if the person doing the demo could have gotten the amps to sound more similar if he had dialed back on the 74's Reverb a bit or turned them off completely?
Also thought the tone of the 65 Blackface to be cleaner and tighter while the 74 was a bit muddy by comparison.
Would like to hear others opinions

Jason Momoa just bought the first Martin D-28 acoustic ever made

@bill_graham Fascinating story!
My own recent acquisition (1965 Guild F30 - currently being restored) brought to mind a Native American concept/idea: A guitar is a song. By song, I mean an item, an artifact - a river or even a building with a linear history. Something that is a thread in time, if you get my drift.
When I got the beat up Guild, I could tell that this instrument had been owned by someone who really enjoyed playing it. It makes me wonder exactly whose hands have been on it since its creation. Somebody bought this guitar when it was brand new. Maybe they gifted the guitar to a heir? Maybe the instrument was pawned by someone at some point - then rescued by a new owner who put his/her own history into the song?
Several of my guitars came to me as used instruments. A few were given to my my friends who had been previous owners. Several others were bought through a variety of outlets. Each one bears the markings (scars, in some cases) of previous owners.
I plan to write up written records of each instrument that I own and place a copy in in each case so that future players will have some appreciation of the travels of each. Mojo documentation!
Jason's D28 ... man! If that thing could only speak!

1959 "Miss Swiss" in action video. I posted the story behind this guitar in a past post
Beautiful guitar, in amazing condition for it's age, but at $450k I would be afraid to keep the thing in my home due to it's value. Looks like another potential Joe Bonamassa future aquisition.

Ha! only if you travel by auto as it would never make it through Airport security.

@bill_graham It would be perfect on camping trips especially if it had a little solar panel for the portable amp!!
Here is a nice instrumental!! Check out the Les Paul style Gibson bass!!
According to the big music store here the Charvel Super Strat can have the distinctive Stratocaster headstock design because Fender OWNS Charvel guitars. Charvel is said to be popular with Metal players.

I've wondered why they don't make you take the strings off of a guitar when carrying one onboard. You could do great damage to someones neck/throat with a bottom E!

@bill_graham Man I enjoyed the Little Feat rig rundown Scott had the other Hendrix Strat. He almost always played his great sounding ES-335 with Gregg Allman. I saw him play a Tele on a song or two with Gregg.
