Introducing the Moog synthesizer 1969. Not a guitar but a cool video IMHO
https://www.musicradar.com/news/moog-synth-bbc-1969

@bill_graham When I try to think of all the great guitar players BEFORE Jimi Hendrix hit it big, nobody including Clapton, Beck and the Kings, was doing what Hendrix rolled out. His tone, rhythm guitar, his bends and runs and structure, the feedback and the wild over the top use of the whammy bar, was all new and cutting edge as far as I know.
Jimi became known as the greatest electric rock guitar player in history. A position he usually continues to hold in most polls.

And don't make the mistake I made and a bass player friend made at a music store where guitar players hang out.
It's okay to say you like or enjoy Derek Trucks or Dickey Betts or Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page or Joe Bonamassa better than listening to Jimi Hendrix.
But DON'T SAY Derek Trucks or Jimmy Page etc is a BETTER guitarist than Jimi Hendrix!! There usually are a couple there who know the intricate and dazzling things Jimi could play that is a cut above Derek Trucks or Carlos Santana and you'll get schooled real fast.
I imagine most of our favorite guitar players wouldn't want us to say they are better than Jimi Hendrix anyway.

Like this guys blues touch on the guitar!!

1981 Les Paul Blonde Custom once owned by Les Paul himself.
I am partial to natural finish guitars so think this one is a beauty.
Interesting it has a maple instead of Mahogany neck and maple fingerboard instead of rosewood.
The thing is a backbreaker brute though at 11.3lbs so would not want to play this thing all night at a gig.
Those Norlin era Les Paul's could be heavyweights.

@rusty I'm not one of them but I love the guitar. It's tempting. But I'll be 77 next month so I guess I'll pass. There is a beautiful Epiphone Les Paul burst at the music store here for $7,500.00. But I want the headstock to say GIBSON!!!!
But at 76, this isn't that bad for me at my age is it? I watched this clip three times before I realized she wasn't listening to a record but actually had a guitar in her hands and was playing it!! The electric was the LAST thing I noticed on my screen:)

@robertdee Still (just) a bit younger than you - I try to keep my guitar spending below $3K. This won't get you any actual "vintage" axes but you can still find some nice guitars between the $1k - 3k range. Less than that if you shop hard enough.
I've never heard that Skynyrd riff played by a prettier person. 😉

@rusty Yes she is pretty. I think she is on several. Maybe she should get in a band and tour.
I think Ed King came up with that riff and guitar parts and I understand they are tricky and takes some time to master if you are like me and just average. Wish I were more gifted.

Joe Bonamassa- Tone Tips For Les Paul

@bill_graham Joe offered a lot of good Les Paul info here. Enjoyed it Bill.
We missed SRV's 69th birthday. It was October 3rd, 1954.
Stevie and Albert!!

@bill_graham Some great 335s in the article, for sure! Too rich for my blood, though. If (when!) i do get my holy grail guitar it'll most likely be a very late model. Or maybe I'll find one of them at a garage sale? I did pickup a couple of Power Ball tickts this morning ...

Yeah too expensive for mine as well. Unless I split the lotto with you tonight it is all just eye candy to dream about.

More song writing fussing!! Andy Summers may sue Sting over no credit on Every Breath You Take.....40 years later!!
The guitarist says until he came up with those guitar parts, the song was going in the trash as Sting and their drummer couldn't agree on how it would go.

Since Kurt checked himself out just after becoming the most famous musician at the time in the world and not long after becoming a multimillionaire, I'd love to have his song writing cut on this then Id buy a $20 thousand dollar Les Paul burst and an ES-335 and about 200 other guitars!!
This thing on YouTube now has been viewed over ONE BILLION SEVEN HUNDRED MILLION TIMES!!! That's more than anything by the Beatles. Unbelievable!!

Eric Clapton's "The Fool" Gibson SG to be auctioned off later this year.
I saw Clapton play the guitar in Cream and it has a dazzling paint job!! Very unique and psychedelic!!

@bill_graham (IMO) Only a "fool" would pay a million bucks for an SG! 😉
Beware! There are counterfeits out there: https://reverb.com/item/41840-gibson-eric-clapton-s-the-fool-sg-replica-handpainted-detail-gibson-case-free-us-shipping

No doubt @rusty
But if you are a Billionaire gear collector with a guitar collection supposedly worth a $ Billion, like Indy Colts owner Jim Irsay, a $million is pocket change.
So there are possibly collectors out there, like Irsay, who would pay that kind of dough for a guitar played by a legendary musician and not even break a sweat.

Look at these auction prices for famous guitars

Music lovers like you and I will have to be satisfied with our yard sale scores and used guitar deals. I bought my Les Paul used at a decent price and don't think I would ever buy new again.

@bill_graham Irsay's collection always reminds me of this quote from the movie, "Vanilla Sky": "So, this is what's become of rock-and-roll - a smashed guitar behind a glass case displayed on some rich guy's wall!"
I envy him for his collection, but I'd rather hear those guitars being put to honest use by honest players!

@bill_graham Beautiful guitars. The Les Paul is the prettiest guitar made and has the fattest tone.
If I were a big time guitar player, a Paul would be my number one.
And I'd have a good Stratocaster probably beat up ( I like a beat up Strat) to play certain blues songs and when I want to play rock and kick it with some whammy bar gymnastics.

The Fender TeleStrat. Never played either Fenders so what do you all think? Is it more like a Tele or a Strat?
https://www.guitarworld.com/reviews/squier-paranormal-custom-nashville-stratocaster

@bill_graham IMO - basically a "Nashville Telecaster" with a Strat shaped body. Hey! If it floats your boat ...

This is cool from John Mayer. Shows you the difference between T. Bone, B. B. and Albert!!

I dreamed Amazon was delivering this to my place!! I'd have to never go out until it arrived. Someone may steal the box off the porch!!
