Posted by: @robertdee@bill_graham Joe now owns over 500 guitars?? I think that is correct. Joe has purchased about 50 additional guitars in the last year or so.
Not sure if he will catch Keith Richards 3,000 guitars which apparently includes about 500 Les Pauls some of which are Epiphone Les Pauls.
I'm impressed with both men.
Unlike Joe, Keith Richards will use a guitar as a club to bash a man in the face!!!
Joe is an avid collector but seems to be very picky about what he collects and may only buy the real rare and primo vintage guitars so he may never catch Keef so I believe was not as picky.
But he has been pretty active the last several years with his guitar buying now that he is making big $$$ now so never say never.

Warren Haynes favorite Allman Brothers era Les Paul was a factory reject scheduled to be destroyed

I have an autographed photo of Warren playing that same guitar I believe

Warren Haynes Soldano amp mods

@bill_graham I remember noticing that tobacco burst didn't have Les Paul on the head stock when I was close to the stage at a 1990 show at Virginia Tech. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering correctly.
And Bill I noticed Warren said because of two holes being drilled in the wrong place, it was illegal for them to see it as a Les Paul.
I wonder if Les Paul the man got restrictions place on the Les Paul because he was very unhappy when Gibson redesigned the Les Paul which we now know is the SG and ironically I just read is Gibson's best selling guitar.
It has something on the headstock here besides Gibson. Not sure that is Les Paul.

Bernie Marsden ( former Whitesnake) selling his 1959 Les Paul "beast" for over to $ 1 million

@bill_graham Zoomed in here Bill and there isn't anything on the headstock other than Gibson.
Apparently if it's without Les's name it's because it was illegal to sell it with Les's name on it.

Pretty cool One Way Out from 1986.
After Chuck Leavell solos, close up shots of Dickey Betts doing some of his cool pull offs. Kinda bend the strings up then add your little finger to it.

TTB hot off the grill!! Apparently from last night!

Duane and Dickey isolated from Blue Sky.
Last electric guitar recorded by Duane.
The sides are reversed from the Eat a Peach album release. Dickey on left and Duane on right.

Reading last night Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist's guitar teacher told him when he was 16 that he wasn't good and would never be any good.
John said that upset him so much he began woodshedding constantly insisting NO PERSON will ever say that to him again!!!

New Molly Tuttle song out. Molly is real fine flat picking an acoustic git-tar!

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Harvey Mandel says there is no such thing as someone being the best guitar player.
https://www.guitarplayer.com/players/harvey-mandel-whos-calling

I think Harvey Mandel is so cool and psychedelic with his guitar work toward the end of this Woodstock footage from 1969. Always thought Harvey had a nice approach to the electric guitar.

This is a year old article so may have already been posted but it is a beautiful Les Paul so worth another look IMHO.

@bill_graham Wow that is a beautiful guitar!! Red and black together has always worked for me. Perhaps a commercial futuristic color combination but so cool.
And THREE pickups!!

Another list. The 10 best guitarists of ALL TIME!!
at the bottom is a list of guitarists who almost made the top 10 list.
https://guitaristnextdoor.com/best-guitarists-of-all-time/

Wow! The list of someone who started playing 15 years ago and still picks the King of Sound effects as number one. Hate the list. Seems a miracle that Duane made the bottom of the also ran list considering his other choices.

Gibson Custom shop Duane Allman 1959 Les Paul

@bill_graham Lots of mods in the world of Jeff Beck.
Especially back then, no need to go to your guitar store hoping to buy a guitar that sounded like Jeff's.

@bill_graham That is a very nice guitar. Is it as dark as Duane's?
It must have been Duane's favorite Les Paul as he moved from his Sunburst with his GoldTop pickups to this tobacco burst.
It had the word DUANE pressed into the back of the body spelled out in old frets.

I think the one in the video is a copy of Duane's lemon burst (?). You can see it on page 22 of this excellent article on Duane's guitars. It is the middle LP in the picture with the Goldtop to the left and Hot Lanta tobacco burst to the right. The Hot Lanta is the one with his name spelled out in the old frets on the back. They did a Custom shop of that one years back and they go for big $$$ now.
The Custom Shop LP in the video even has the missing pickup covers like the original in the magazine photo so I am guessing that is the one Gibson copied.
