Scroll down....

This is what I pretty much anticipated. On the vacant terrace across the walkway from Duane & B.O....There is enough room for at least 3-4 more plots there....Hoping somehow, someway, that Butch's earthly remains wind up next to Gregg someday soon.

And although hoping they may live well into old age, but when Dickey & Jaimoe's time comes, it would be sweet, glorious perfection that they rest there as well and Les Brers are all reunited together again for eternity....Crazy, I know....Ridiculous you say?, Yeah, maybe....
But man, how cool would that be??...The original 6, the creators of "At Fillmore East", and all the other timeless music that was written on that hallowed ground 45 years back....
Probably the first and last famous band ever buried together.

Now THAT would be an awesome tribute to the ABB legacy and the City of Macon, Georgia.

That is about the most inconsiderate post i have seen. Don't you think his wife and children would like to be buried next to Gregg...

Ehhhh, I have to disagree. Gregg would want to be in Rose Hill, and I think all of his kids know that and want that too. A gf/wife of 2 years is just a drop in the bucket when considering his legacy too, she should want him with his Brothers.

No offense intended, but please consider that what will be at Rose Hill will be a monument.

Gregg - like Duane and Berry will NOT be there.

I'm no expert in Pneumatology or anything, but I do believe that our spirits expand beyond physicality. Gregg, Duane, Berry ... your grandmother - etc. - they're all WITH YOU whenever you think, talk or dream of them.

A cemetery is a fine place to make pilgrimage to. It's a great place to come to seek peace and quiet. But again, you carry the spirits of the departed with you in your thoughts and memories.

Some people (like Gregg) leave behind a legacy of song and music that will keep them alive forever.

Someone once said words along the line of, "a man (or woman) is alive as long as people remember them". I take solace in this sentiment.

The idea of the six of them together in Rose Hill is a nice one and I think they did want that at one time. Whatever ends up happening, people should respect their wishes and accept that the band members made arrangements that satisfy them and their families. As long as their wishes are followed, that's all that matters. I say that because I've already seen people on Facebook yelling about how it's wrong that Gregg's going to be five feet away from Duane or whatever it is and complaining about stuff, and it's disrespectful and creepy.

That would explain the need for 10 plots - just as starters!!!!!!

Yes, it occurred to me when I posted the thought that possibly some might get their feathers ruffled about something given the passions people have for this band, but really, no offense or insensitivity meant.

I've been there a few times and it was a pretty emotionally impactful experience having been a devoted admirer of their music and storied career for a long, long time. But all the same, I just happen to feel it would be a beautiful thing to see.

I also get that the families/next of kin may have other wishes....And that their spirits have flown and they are not "really" there....But then again, they ARE very MUCH there and so is their music....The stories, the legend, the history run DEEP....When you walk into Rose Hill you can feel the "ghost" so to speak....At least I could....And to think some of that beautiful music was actually conceived there only adds to that feeling for me.

So apologies if my thoughts offended anyone, but I still feel it would be a beautiful thing to experience someday and a lovely testament to the original Brotherhood. Very spiritual indeed.

I would guess those on Facebook moaning about the walkway don't know the history of the grave site at Rose Hill.

They probably don't know the history Jerry. Since it was Gregg's wishes to be buried there, that is what will happen. Fans, who feel like he is part of their family because he's been such a big part of their lives should be able to stop by and pay homage to him, as long as there is respect for his wife and children who may also need to be there at times. If someone goes to visit him there and there are already people there visiting him, wait until the other people leave, do not approach them or interrupt them.

A cemetery is NOT a place to smoke pot, drink, have sex even though we have the beliefs that some of the band did some of those things back in the day. Give Gregg and the others the same respect you would want if you were visiting anybody else you know.
