Gregg Interview in The Guardian - "some of it’s better than Fillmore East"

"....(we didn't play) enough in Europe or the UK or even on the west coast of America. We had a booking agent who kept us too much in the south and on the east coast."
What a lame excuse - blame the booking agent!
Wouldn't that be Jon Podell for the most part? It would be interesting to hear his take.
Doesn't the artist dictate to the booking agent and not vice versa?
"Fix us a tour of dates in Japan in October 2016 because we want to promote the release there of our new DVD".
Or, "Hey guys, that tour you asked me to arrange - it occurred to me that you had never played Pakistan so I thought, 'Go for it!'".

Heck. Gregg's been throwin' people under the bus for years! 😉

Just. Stop. Talking.

"Big sound, good sound, some of it’s better than Fillmore East"
I'm happy he believes that.

At first I was shocked Gregg would say that, but after thinking about it a little, it makes perfect sense. I'm not saying Gregg's current band is better than Fillmore East, but I can totally see how Gregg would prefer what he is doing now to the music on that album.
The reason I say that is that, crazy as it may sound, the kind of music on At Fillmore East was never Gregg's kind of music.
30 minute instrumentals? 10 minute guitar solos? 10 minute DRUM SOLOS? I dare anybody to find anything like that in any of Gregg's solo music.
As I've said many times, it's like some grand cosmic joke that Gregg Allman, a man who does not appreciate "jambands" or jam music, ended up in one of the greatest jam bands of all time.

Gregg has lost reality,GAF sounds like a wedding band compared to LAFE!!!
