Gregg, Dickey and Butch feeling good!!

The snow was blowing in New Jersey that night:) They even mention all that snow.

It is so weird to see Butch and Dickey getting along so well. Deep down inside them Butch and Dickey truly loved each other.

I have seen other videos including 1983 with Betts, Hall, Leavell, Trucks and they seem friendly and tight. Plus Dickey got Butch involved with the 1988 album Pattern Disruptive. Butch even plays percussion on a few tracks.
But in 1991 Polygram owned the Capricorn albums and put out 1969 to 1979 A Decade of Hits which had tracks from all their Capricorn albums except Win, Loose or Draw and it sold over 2 million copies. For some reason the band no longer made money off the Capricorn years but Dickey and Gregg made a lot of money as writers of many of the songs. Butch expressed his bitterness about that in the 90's on this website and felt he should have shared a writing credit on Liz Reed but didnt get one. And Berry Oakley and himself maybe on Whipping Post. Someone asked him did he complain to Duane Allman. Good old Butch not only posted regularly here he would answer questions. I looked forward to what Butch had to say for several years. Butch said he did go to Duane but Duane's position was who ever brought the song to the band owned it. The changes made to it by the band such as Butch changing the time signature and Oakley writing the famous intro to Whipping Post and even the nice drum parts and drum solos on Liz Reed were only part of the arrangement of the song, how the band wanted to present someone else's song.
Then Butch began to come up with business ideas for the band that would allow him to make additional money but Dickey blocked everyone everytime. This created a big riff in their friendship. Dickey's increased drinking etc after Gregg supposedly got clean ( Butch seem to indicate Gregg never did in the 2000s -pot and prescription drug abuse was what Butch indicated and he said Gregg's liver was the size of a basketball), Dickey being dominating and mean including punching Butch in the nose and pulling a knife on Woody and according to Butch, running off Warren, Allen and Jack Pearson created a situation with Butch becoming very angry at Dickey and Butch never got over it. When Gregg decided to quit the band because of Dickey, Butch made the phone call and Dickey was to be fired. But Jaimoe would only agree to a temporary suspension saying the only way out of the band is to quit or die. But Dickey sued the band and supposedly collected over a million dollars from the band, suggest they do a farewell tour which Butch flat rejected saying he would never play with Dickey again. So at that point they offered Dickey's chair to Jimmy Herring as Jaimoe told the others it looks like Dickey quit. In Gregg's book he says if it were not for Jaimoe, Dickey would have been fired in 2000 but after the dust settled Dickey quit, he was not fired.

Maybe if people here (not necessarily the OP, I'm not singling anyone out)
would stop continually reciting what they don't know/only read about of the discontent of the ABB,
then the band could be seen for what it is:
deep relationships that ran their effective course.
Of course the love is there.
Nobody fights with people they don't care about,
they just ignore them.
It's sad people think they have to pick sides instead of appreciating how hard it is for any group of people to work together and, then Gratitude for the gifts shared of that collaboration
