Gregg Allman- Tuesdays Gone

Thanks for posting this but I think it's a listless, half-hearted effort. He didn't blow it but BLAH....

Almost like he was reading the lyrics off a page...
Oh wait...Never mind 😮

tough critics. thanks for posting. Not everyone has their gray glasses on, I liked it.

Agreed - great tune and great version by Gregg.

I don't think a Skynyrd song is ever going to sound better than as sung by Gregg Allman. The big offender is that weird synth. I'm not as familiar with the original, does it have that bad 80s synth on it, too?

Tuesdays Gone. L S

Mark me down as someone who thinks that was a pretty weak effort all the way around. Audley did a nice job, but otherwise, pretty blah. Porkchop, are you serious that nobody could do better justice to a Skynyrd song? That's crazy talk.

Damn ... Well mark me down as thinking it wasn't that bad. If it suffered from anything, I'd say it was the same malady that hurt the Gregg Tribute - unfamiliarity with the material. Nothing a little rehearsal couldn't or wouldn't cure. Also damn Porkchop the wired synth you are referring to appears to be Jimmy Hall's harp doubling the keys player which I thought offered a nice spin on the tune. I know that Ronnie and the rest of the band were digging Gregg covering one of their tunes from their heavenly vantage point. That thought wasn't lost on me.

I enjoyed it though I think the backup singers weren't needed during the chorus.

Amazing how opinions differ. Without the back-up singers, I don't think Gregg could have come close to pulling it off. Not trying to hate on Gregg, but he doesn't have a lot of force behind his voice anymore and he had a hard time holding those notes.

Nah, I can tell the difference between a keyboard and a harmonica. I'm referring to the cheesy keyboard that is clearly being played at the beginning of the song. Put a hammond on that puppy!

Hyperbole, my friend, who is else is going to cover it better than Gregg?
I thought it was just fine, though I never really cared for the song myself. It gets a pass from me, aside from being a little overproduced and a little under rehearsed.

Great song, great performer, thanks. Like the horns!

I Liked it.

Gregg is no spring chicken , he's reading the lyrics as he sings which screws up the pace of the song . Agreed the 80's synthesizer is terrible here and the horns are suspect .
I'm not a fan .
He's Gregg Allman , but that doesn't make him exempt for doing s shitty version of a very classic song .
