Gregg Allman Talks Health Scare, Considering Allman Brothers Reunion Tour

Remember it's also possible that by Gregg saying "we've been talking" that he means he's only been talking with the original members, because I don't think Gregg and warren/Derek have been in contact, but I know that O'Neil has said several times that Gregg has been trying to get things together for this upcoming year and butch has said that there's been some talk of it in recent interviews about lea brers. So I think Gregg is really only referring to talking to butch and jaimoe.

Seen this so many times, Gregg tosses off a comment and then everyone rushes to interpret it, in 3000 different ways. for weeks, months, years.
Until there is an announcement, there is no reunion. Derek is not coming back. Warren is probably not coming back. They left on a high note, they don't need to sign up for any other tour.
Gregg can be seen playing all the same songs...Les Brers is out there playing all the same songs...
the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Gregg needs to explore what Phil Lesh and Jorma have done in regards to building small venues near their main residences. Phil and Jorma have remained relevant artists while limiting their yearly travel to select dates and venues that require less travel, in addition to having many artists visit their respective venues for smaller shows . This seems to be a formula that has worked well for The late great Levon Helm , Phil and Jorma. Bob Weir is setup with his Sweetwater when he finally is burned out from the road work .
Bottom line is Gregg , Gregg's management and the promoter's and venues need to act responsibly from a business perspective . I know as a Long time Gregg fan I won't make the mistake in the future to lay out dollars for tickets for shows that could get cancelled . Who needs the aggravation of making plans , spending money and having those plans screwed up or Gregg not performing up to his standards or mine.

Gregg's Winery shows are slowly being cancelled, he is not well.

I just wanted to reiterate what I said in the Allman Brothers Reunion thread.
Gregg says here that he had EIGHT bronchoscopies due to pneumonia?
I'm a Respiratory Therapist and have assisted M.D.'s in just a few bronchoscopies; I've had MANY patients who have had them. So let me explain how serious that is.
In a bronchoscopy, the Doctor goes WAY down into the lungs with a flexible scope which has a camera, an attachment capable of grabbing tissue samples for biopsy, and a suction device for clearing mucus and fluid. It's a very invasive procedure and the patient must be sedated beforehand.
It is extremely, EXTREMELY rare for a patient to require EIGHT bronchoscopies. Usually the Doctor will do one, and if that does not suffice, do another, and on rare occasion three of them. I can't even remember in my 22 year career any patient having eight bronchoscopies.
This should drive home how serious and life-threatening Gregg's pneumonia was. For that reason, I'm not at all surprised that he is not recovered enough to be out there performing yet, and certainly not at a level that he would be comfortable with.
Say some prayers for Gregg folks: He's going to need them. And let's focus on his health, not us getting to hear him sing again, although I want to just like everybody else.
Love you Gregg and All of My Best Karma coming from the Bay. -Rob

Gregg may well have had 8 bronchoscopies, but it is also Gregg doing an interview where things do sometimes get exaggerated. Hopefully this is a situation where he had 2 or 3 and just bumped up the number for effect.

I enjoy Gregg as a musician, other then what he sings I could care less what comes out of his mouth, hope he gets healthy real soon.

I was told the rest of the City Winery shows are about to go down. We'll see.

It is official.

I am glad Gregg decided to back out the remaining shows in 2016. He should just focus on getting better .
