According to an article in Relix Magazine here are the 10 songs on the album.

(not in album order)

1. Love Like Kerosene (GA guitarist Scott Sharrard cover)
2. Once I Was (Tim Buckley cover)
3. Love The Life I Live (Willie Dixon cover)
4. Out of Left Field (Percy Sledge cover)
5. Blind Bats And Swamp Rats (Johnny Jenkins cover)
6. Willin' (Little Feat cover)
7. Going, Going, Gone (Bob Dylan cover)
8. Black Muddy River (Grateful Dead cover)
9. Song For Adam (Jackson Browne cover)
10. My Only True Friend (Allman/Sharrard original)

Also it looks like there are two versions, one that is just the album only and one that includes a bonus DVD.

Agree. Very interesting and untypical. He really had a special talent with his song selection. I always loved the first two solo albums and Searching for Simplicity for that reason.

Maybe except for "Willin'" all the cover selections are relatively obscure which is nice but i'm also dissapointed in the lack of originals that made it on the album despite of all of Gregg's many statements in interviews in recent years ("All compositions by Gregory Allman"). But still i'm looking forward to his new album and i keep my fingers crossed for some cool posthume archive releases in the years to come.

Exactly! I thought there were 2 songs that Gregg and Scott wrote together. Very dissapointing.

I think "Love Like Kerosene" was the other "new" song that was being talked about.

Scott stated that they had 3 or 4 other songs they were writing together but were never finished that he would like to finish and record himself.

As far as the "All Compositions By Gregg Allman" album, I always assumed that it would be re-recordings of older songs he had written. I never got the impression that it was going to be an album of all new songs, it was always vaguely worded. I don't think he ever outright said that it was going to be an album of new songs, just an album of songs he had written.

I find Willin' a very surprising one! Excited to hear. Going, Going, Gone may be a tough one to hear...... Look forward, and wonder on video....

I think anyone disappointed and hopes dashed is looking at this short life through dark glasses. Well, on the plus side for ya, it will be the last release disappointment of material by Gregg to suffer through. I guess this was a long way of saying "Whiney Cr@p"......

If that's the track list, it reminds me of Warren Zevon's last album: a lot of songs about death and dying, even to the point of being bleak, because that's what was on his mind. If anything this sounds darker than the Zevon album even though there are a few upbeat songs here. I respect his honesty and it will probably make this an even more emotional listening experience. Willin' is a surprising and funny choice. Blind Bats is an interesting pick, too. One of my favorites from Ton-Ton Macoute and not exactly a million laughs, but a gripping song.

Thanks,Tony.For saying straight.

I am so joyous that Gregg,in his dying times, thought enough to leave us this gift.

We all look at it through our own experiences..I dig that.

Fly on Gregg.RIP and thanks for this gift.

I am still spoiled by "Laid Back".
"Black Muddy River"?
I go with "Broke-down Palace".
All too soon for me.
My review will be sometime in 2018.

Post reviews, didn't do this, shoulda done that,i'd have liked to have heard this instead, yadda yadda yadda, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
I am so very thankful Gregg gave all he had left in him to complete this diamond, before he split out.And he knew some time back his day's were comin to a close.Yet he gave all that was in him to keep on doin what he loved,& bringin peace and happiness to folk's all across the land.Even when he was in bad pain,he'd take the stage and let music ease it for a little while.
All i have ta say is thank you brother!

Well said,Luke.

When critics review music,movies,sports...I always wonder what others thought of the critic's last album, movie,or competition...oh,right...the critic can't professionally play music, write screenplays or compete in the sport they critique...

From what I understand, this was recorded about a year and a half ago. Was he thinking about dying then?

Agreed, I'm not seeing any of that. I think this is a case of projecting.

No one has heard the last album we will ever get from Gregg Allman, and some are already complaining. An album is what an artist desires to create, not what fans demand. Personally I can't wait to hear this.

Why wouldn't he? He'd already been through hepatitis C and had a liver transplant and years of related health problems, as we all remember from the shows he missed, delayed, or canceled and the way his singing was sometimes affected. And we don't know that all of this was recorded then. I think Michael Lehman said Jackson Browne recorded his part of "Song for Adam" shortly before Gregg died, so that could have been added later, for example.

I think this is a case of projecting.

OK, but I count three songs about death or dying on there - "Going, Going, Gone" is an interesting title, isn't it? - and and the chorus of "Once I Was" ends "Will you remember me?" "I Love the Life I Live" is also a looking-back song, but it's an upbeat one.

Well, ok, so 2 songs out of 10 (there's nothing in "I Love the Life I Live" about death or looking back)? Hardly "bleak", and par for the course from the guy who wrote "sometimes I feel like I'm dying" at the age of 22 and put "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" on his first solo album.

I would say it isn't a stretch that in March of 2016 (when that article came out that they had started recording) Gregg might have had a pretty good idea that his time was coming near. I don't think it would be projecting to say that there is a pattern to some of the songs that were selected. That's 14 months before he died that the recordings started. By the summer of 2016 he was cancelling shows. Scott Sharrard said they had to carry him to the stage at Red Rocks in September because he was so weak and the thin air there made it worse and that by the end of the final show in Atlanta on Oct. 29th he knew that was likely it.

Also other than Fender31 stating he was disappointed, has anyone else in here really said anything beyond wishing he had gotten a couple of more original songs out before his time was up? I don't think that is the same thing as saying "this album isn't good because there weren't more originals". I don't see a whole lot of complaining.

All that said, I am very glad that this got completed and look forward to hearing it.

For sure, I'm not saying Gregg wasn't facing his own mortality. He's likely spent the past 10 years doing so. I'd wager he's always had it on his mind, especially since 1971 or so.

I said the song list didn't look "bleak" to me. It's not full of "death and dying" to me any more than "High Cost", "Old Before My Time", "Sailin' Cross the Devil's Sea", "All Night Train", "End of the Line" etc. Gregg's sets in the past few years have been full of 1960s Stax/Muschle Scholals-style soul and R&B and Southern Blood seems to reflects that. If an album seems somehow "bleak" before even hearing it, I'd say that's a bit presumptuous.

It looks like there is a pre-order on Amazon UK for a 9/8 release date.

There is a pre-order link on Amazon US for the import, but I expect the US release to show up for pre-order soon at a much better price.

Looking forward to this one! Gregg really had a great voice until the end, especially when he was in his periods of strength. All the subtleties, layers and nuances of his voice would ring through (less throaty yelling he did when we was hyped up at certain times in the 80s & 90s). His voice got deeper that the early days, but it was just a different treasure.

Willin' is a surprise choice, but right in his wheel house. Definitely the most popular cover on there. I just happened to have learned that one recently (not hard just never learned it on guitar or memorized lyrics).

Glad Scott Sharrard and band get featured with Gregg. Scott was a loyal mate of Gregg's in his final 8-9 years.
