Gregg Allman gravesite construction

Last I read there is space for Dickey and Jaimoe to be there if they wish and there will be a place for Butch to go in a wall. Apparently Butch was creamated.
That original band was something. Nobody sounded like that before or after including later lineups of the ABB.

It is so beautiful and so sad, to see three original Brothers buried in the same place.
Thanks for the Link.

I appreciate you sharing the images. I've been curious about the progress of gravesite.
Looks fantastic and what a tribute.

Can someone tell us what we're looking at here? Tough to read
Thank you

Thanks for sharing, it looks like it's coming along beautifully -- thank you for everything, Allman Brothers Band

My first reaction is finality.
I never wanted those two graves to expand.
My next reaction is Gregg needs to be moved over a couple of spaces.
Normally nobody wants a re burial.
Unless it's to be moved right next to Duane Allman and Berry Oakley.

I pride myself on my landscape rock design and construction. Let me just say, I would have loved to design an alternative. The Brothers deserve the best effort.

My wife and I visited Macon late this past October, our trip was fantastic and Macon was magical for us, such a rush of emotions! My wife and I were not impressed at all with the progress on Gregg's grave at that time, it does look a little better now from the pictures seen here, the pictures I took, show a lot of debris and stuff thrown around and so forth, I kept it to myself as it was somewhat hurtful to my wife and I and didn't want to hurt anyone here. At that time I felt enough time had passed to have the job completed properly. I just figured thats how a Blues Man get treated, use him up for ever note, then toss him out in the alley. Kinda like bird72 stated, I just wish the work on Gregg's grave was being done by some Folks with Blues in their Hearts and Allman Brothers shirts on their backs............Much Peace To All...........joe

Many have said Gregg needs to be closer to Duane, but, if I had to guess, a marker for Mama A will rest between her two boys. I have heard, though it's just hearsay, Mama A's ashes are interred with Gregg. I hope whatever marker is made for Gregg that it will match the marble slabs that mark Duane and Berry's final resting places. I think when they are finished with the expansion of the fence and railing, and lay the markers, we will all approve.

It looks great to me. When I was last in Macon in late 2017 the folks at the Big House thought Butch may be placed there as well. I've heard nothing more about that. Does anyone know?

As you know originally there were just the two graves, Duane and Berry's. Those white slabs are their graves. There is a wall behind them because the cemetery is not just one level in that area. Gregg's funeral and I think his grave was on the level above the wall. See links below which may make it a little easier to comprehend. there was talk of wanting to get Butch's ashes put in Rosehill at a later time. The remaining band members probably want to be re-united with their other band members when they reach the end of their mortal road. For that to occur, some revisions have to be made at the cemetery for them. The band was not just a big part of the lives of the members, it was their life, and the survivors still bear the torch for the music they are still creating with ABB influences touching them every day. So I think they want to make it spacious enough to accomodate all the band members being there in the same place.

That’s pretty damn cool...I know no one likes to think about their mortal end or the mortal end of their heroes, but if there was ever a band that deserved to be buried together, because of their history in Macon/Rose Hill and the legacy of the musical brotherhood, it would be these guys. Hope it does all eventually happen. It would make “The Road Goes on Forever” ring true.

Chank posted these on his Facebook page today.
Layla and Gladreiall worth their weight in gold.
It was set in place this morning . Looks great!!!

Wow that part looks really nice. I am sure it all will when it is complete. Looks a lot different than it did 30 yrs ago when I last saw it.

Oh very nice and much relieved, as BDOB and others suggested here:that it would be, as fans we do invest ourselves I guess!.............Peace To All and Much Thanks To Gregg Allman for creating the music he gave.

What a beautiful gravestone!!
