Gregg Allman At PNC 8/28/15

The GAB's opening set for the Doobie Brothers, was short but very sweet.
I last saw this band about a year ago. They have matured quite a bit since then, and that show was very good. They played for about an hour with the expected ABB-heavy setlist. Last time, Gregg was still recovering from his Wanee wrist injury. This time, he spent a lot of time out front playing guitar. His vocals were strong and confident. He and Scott Sherard shared some very nice harmonies, which I do not remember from past shows.
Sherard is really coming into his own, and I enjoyed his playing better than any previous GAB I have seen. The feel is more like the five man band- bouncier and lighter. Lots of guitar solos, but not with the intensity of Derek and Warren.
Everything worked well together- vocals, guitar, and horns. The band was tight and focused.
It's hard not to make a comparison between this band and TTB. Everything fits together so much better for this band and, not surprisingly, I like the material much better. Everyone always says that TTB gets so much better each time they see them and they are really starting to find their groove. For my nickel, the GAB is already there.

hey allan sorry we missed you at Jones Beach......very good assessment of GAB we have seen him a lot . just a few months ago.. band is getting tighter.....Scott is now more comfortable being the "front" man musically.. gregg great energy, in strong voice. and the band now together for years is showing it...Our setlist ABB heavy..sadly only a 1.15 hr set.......
on a similar note we have seen the Doobies a lot lately and they re set was top shelf...really good stuff...
ps same to say about Jaimoes Jasss Band.. they actually were on early but had the biggest time slot......thats a tight great band.... like to see a 2nd cd
