Great Southern River band

Greetings, brothers and sisters! I hope you're all doing fine in those critical times. I'd just like to introduce you all to my band Great Southern River. ABB is one of our main influences (with Mule, Skynyrd and ZZ Top). We released our first album last April 17th. We had to release it only online for now with no events and that really affected us badly. Anyway, if you can, please give it a try, share to your friends. We need support and it's free. The full album is available on all music platforms. Just follow us on Facebook, YouTube, Spotify. You'll help us a lot! Thank you and peace to all!

Instead of accusing people of stealing, or anything else you should get some information. All our pages explain that. We're from the southernmost state in Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, which can literally be translated to english as Great Southern River. Oh, but Betts used Great Southern for his band! So? There are thousands of bands with similar names. Did you accuse Allman Betts Band of using almost the same name of their fathers? I doubt it. So shouldn't any other band use the word 'band' since we had a band called The Band? And no, there is no other band with this exact name. We checked. It's ours.

Brer, the dude is just sharing his music. You're being a little harsh. Even if Great Southern River Band didn't have a legit reference to where they are, there are a ton of similar band names that salute the music they are inspired by. Even if there was another band with the same name, no one is chasing anyone across borders for a trademark infringement. There are so many similarly named regional or cover bands just in the US, I really don't see the big deal.

Don't pay any attention to it. Just someone being a dick. I'll check out your stuff and good luck to you and your band.

Thank you both! Like everything in life we'll always face support and bashing. I'm OK with that. No one got a 100% approval rate. Not even ABB! World is tough enough on new bands, but I do it because I love it. I'll just keep writing and playing. The road goes on forever, right?

Chris good job. I downloaded the album off of Amazon music. Really enjoyed some good southern rock music. I enjoyed Great southern river and The heart digger the most.

Thank you very much!

Music sounds good Chris. I hear the Allman Brothers influence. Yes this virus has put everything in hold. You mentioned Allman Betts Band and they had to cancel their tour that would stretch into the summer back in March and I think it halted their next CD.
So try to get going again when this is over. Take care.

Just one thing. Beer Washed Bread is real close to ZZTop's Lagrange. But the words are way different so you should be okay if Billy or Dusty hear it.

I thought "Rio Grande do Sul" translated to "Big River Down South"
Good sound, good music, great deep southern accent on the singer.
When will your album release?

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about Dickey Betts & Great Southern.
Not what I was expecting but, after checking out a few of the songs on YouTube, I enjoyed the overall vibe. I thought the music had a 70's hard rock sound which reminded me of a combination of several different groups from that era.

Hello! I am a personal trainer with a private training facility. Old school resistance modality. I play music for motivation in there It has to be a certain motivating mojo. I love early ZZ Top, so that is an example. No slow boring sheet for workouts. You guys fit right in. *LIKE* . Do you have a CD I can buy, or do I download and burn my own? (need gym CD). I am Mr Analog so don't even keep up on new fangled digital methods. Thanks!!!

Thank you! Yeah, as soon as this chaos ends we'll create an event to released it again. About BWB, it's OK. The similarity to La Grange and other ZZ Top stuff is intentional. It's a tribute to them (it will be writen on the album, so far it is on YT at the description of the song). Man, I really hope they can hear it someday!

Thank you! 'Great' fits better because is not a size definition. 'Grande' is the same word for both 'big' and 'great' in portuguese
The full album was released April 17th but only digitally so far. When times get better we'll start pressing.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a combo of a lot of stuff. I play guitar for 25 years and I've played lots of genres. But southern, blues and classic rock are my home.

Chris do you think you will be touring the united states in 2021 ?

Chris do you think you will be touring the united states in 2021 ?
That would be a dream come true. I even have the idea of a Live album called 'Great Southern River - From South to South' recorded at iconic places like Macon and Jacksonville. 😛 So who knows?
But first we propably need a deal with a label from the US. I'm trying to contact Warren Haynes label but with no success so far. Gonna keep trying.

Yeah Chris come on over here. Right now the virus and riots and a senless police murder has the USA all screwed up. But the economy has unexpectedly bounced back somewhat. Millions got their jobs back. I'm still unemployed since March 19th but mine was just a four hour a day part time job so it's no biggie for me. You can get in touch with Warren's label soon. I can't even get the Empire State Building to answer the phone right now. Closed.

Muscadine Studios is here in Macon. It's run by Paul Hornsby who was with the brothers in Hourglass.

I truly believe that you would get a good following of fans in the USA, especially in the south. I am in the Northeast ,if you ever need any info . Just message me. I just followed your bands IG account.

Awesome, thanks for the support. I'm doing a big search to see if I can find blogs, websites, anything to promote the band.
